Hi @adamslieb, thanks! Integrating with ZenHub could definitely be something to consider, but I think we would work on supporting Github "official" features first (read "Github Projects" π) to provide a deeper integration rather than with a 3rd party app.
@jeremybenaim Maybe. In my small circle of the universe Zenhub has a large following of companies who use it exclusively. If more of those are/would be users of yours, especially potentially paying users, maybe it should be prioritized higher. I have no clue what your user base looks like, just a thought. Also selfishly, I'd love a Zenhub desktop product :)
Hello hello, Producthunters!
First of all, massive thanks to @syswarren for hunting Gitscout! π
We are super excited to release the first public version of Gitscout today! π
A quick tl;dr: Gitscout is a sexy new tool to help you browse, organize and manage your Github Issues. Download it now and start collaborating more efficiently π
We love Github, but working with several repositories/organizations can be a hassle sometimes, constantly having to switch between a dozen tabs on your browser. We've been there, you've been there...we both know exactly how it feels, right? π
All your repos and issues in one place, a lot of super nifty features like "saved issues" which allows you to create a custom list of issues and organize you workday, drafts, notifications, a super efficient search experience, and much more! All of this packaged in a beautiful UI.
It's free, it's fast, it's beautiful and you can download the latest version right on gitscout.com π
One last thing. Our mission is to help you being more productive and to bring you the best experience so we count on you to open a lot of issues and our dedicated repository (https://github.com/gitscout/gits...) to share your feeling about Gitscout, report a bug or anything you think we could improve! π
We'd also like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who helped us during the private beta, we love you guys, keep feedback-ing! β€οΈ
Till then, happy holidays y'all. π€
@bluetidepro absolutely, I'm actually glad you asked π Gitscout is a React/Redux app packaged in Electron (Github FTW!) which talks to a nodeJS backend (for the "saved issues" persistence, for example) and I think that's pretty much it π @lefebvremichael would be glad to give you more details if needed!
hey @chakkaradeep, thanks! π Funny that you're mentioning a menu bar icon with a mini window, because the first version of Gitscout (from last year!) was exactly that. But we figured that the experience wasn't comprehensive enough so we ended up building a "full window" app instead.
Does this work offline and sync? For example, when on an airplane.
If not, then I don't see the benefit from a productivity point of view right now, but will check it out later.
@benguild the app is kinda ready for that, we just didn't work the whole synchronisation thing (which is the trickiest part). But yea, we will definitely provide offline support for Gitscout π
@itsnblackburn I totally understand your frustration, and am really sorry that you feel like this. π
But we had to start with one OS (just like starting with one platform) before spreading to any other one.
So basically right now we only support Github on macOS, but tomorrow it could definitely be Bitbucket on Linux! π
We just want to make it right on the OS we use everyday and in a near future will consider a Linux and Windows app.
It would be awesome if I could use this for a Github Enterprise install (or better, multiple Github Enterprise installs) at the same time :) Collecting issues from across GHE installs would be a big win for me!
@mehulkar Yes we definitely need to investigate how to make Gitscout available for Enterprise user! And we will sure let you know when it's available π
hi @sofistixy, thank you for asking. π I might be wrong but I think SourceTree is a more a Git client (similar to Github Desktop) rather than an "Issues Manager". You basically can't visualize, browse and manage your issues in SourceTree, as much as you can't create branches, and manage your Git repository with Gitscout. So I think it's safe to say that we're not actually competing against SourceTree π
Thanks @jadb, glad you like it! π
"Pull requests support" is actually #1 on our backlog. We already started to work on how to improve the flow of PRs and make them look nice, and hopefully will ship a version with PRs support in a few weeks π
As for GitLab and/or Bitbucket, definitely, but we first want to make everything right with Github, then we could definitely open it to other platforms! π
