Lot's of people in here literally have no idea how youtube works π
The message feature kinda sucks in my opinion. I have no reason to text my contacts in the youtube app. If I want to send them a video I can just copy the link and text it to them normally.
I'd much rather see an improved messaging between youtubers and subscribers, currently it's pretty much hidden. We also need improved comments, comment sections of popular youtubers are an embarrassment.
"Whenever I read Youtube comments, I totally think to myself - I'd love to converse with these very nice people here in real time on a regular basis!" - said no one, ever.
"Starting today, you can share videos with your friends and family directly on YouTube. Not only can you share and receive videos in the app, you can also chat about them right on YouTube, reply with another video, invite others to the conversation, and more. We think itβll make sharing easier, faster and more fun on your phone. And if you want to continue sharing videos through other apps, you can still do that too.
These shared videos all live in a brand new tab on your YouTube mobile app, making it easier than ever to catch up on videos your friends have shared or to show them a few of your own favorites."
There's been this shift in how we connect online. Rather than just connecting with each other, with our newly established strong social networks, it's now about connecting with content and interests while sharing with those networks.
Could be me, but isn't part of YouTube's appeal that, as a commenter, you can be anonymous?
Turning YouTube into a social network is fine if the objective is to compete with Facebook but I wouldn't be surprised if the anonymity is why some people turn to YouTube in the first place. Could have longstanding effects on how certain types of videos perform in the future.
Would YouTube be aware of this?
When was YouTube ever a friend to friend social network? Is this why you guys ruined YouTube with Google+, to make it more like this? Am I too harsh a critic?
