SS2 is one of my all time favorite games so I'm excited for this

If you like exploration, the maps are ridiculously large and detailed (thankfully there's a mini-map). If you like slow, atmospheric, and creepy, SS1's got those in spades. The UI is ridiculously dense -- but configurable. You'll be sorting and arranging your inventory A LOT. This is not run and gun shooter. Throughout most of the game you're underpowered compared to enemies so any sounds make your heart-rate shoot up. You've got to continuously worry about resources because there aren't ammo pickups everywhere waiting to be picked up. The story / writing is top-notch. The 3 intermediate goals instead of one end-game goal (e.g. kill the boss or just get out alive) is a great structure, don't get why more devs don't emulate it (even SS2 didn't!). It's not exactly an RPG -- you "level up" by adding implants and software to yourself (ala Deus Ex before Deus Ex). The number of upgrades, weapons, gadgets is nuts. You even have a cyberdeck that accepts game "cartridges" you find hidden along the way --e.g. there's a very pixelly Wing Commander (another Origin title) that you can play *within* SS1 -- that's just nuts for 1994. There are also very gonzo gadgets like a rear-view camera that shows what's behind in the corner of the HUD. Then there's the powered hoverboard -- yes, for real. The graphics are dated, but the experience will remain with you for a long time if you don't quit after the first 15 minutes.

First time it's available in 21 years and with some helpful UI updates. Seems like now is the best time to play the game that's the precursor to Bioshock, among others.
