I’m excited to introduce Gomates, a new platform to organize carpools. Sure - carpooling has been around for a long time, but we’ve incorporated modern tech to make it convenient.
When you already know people going to the same events, it’s natural to share rides. Teams, families, and social groups do this all the time. But arranging carpools with old methods has flaws. Group messaging gets cumbersome and hard to follow. Shared spreadsheets lack accountability, as tweens and teens gleefully demonstrate. 😁
At Gomates, we’ve worked hard to provide just what you need for successful carpools, and nothing else. Carpool groups are formed organically through shared links. Group members can see each carpool and choose to participate. Everyone has the latest information in one place.
Some little details that make Gomates special: ✔️It’s easy to create, view, and sign up for repeating events (like work, school, or practice). ✔️Parents can manage rides for their children. ✔️Carpool coordinators can share notes, remove members, and fix carpools if needed.
We made Gomates to help people save time and drive less through carpooling. Every shared ride reduces traffic, saves energy, and fosters community. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Thanks for supporting our launch! As other makers know, limiting the purpose of a project can be challenging. We designed Gomates with intent - just for carpooling.
Gomates does not
- try to provide services that we all get elsewhere, like messaging or route optimization
- clumsily tack carpooling onto an app made for signups or team management
- match you with strangers in your area
Gomates does
- Facilitate carpools with people you invite
- Provide a central location to see updated carpool info
- Protect your privacy
