@arturkiulian Thanks for asking! Actually nothing forces you to send your contacts to our servers to use the app. You can create events and use it simply as a day-to-day calendar.
Then, if you want to invite your friends of course we'll ask for your contact book to help you find them.
As a reminder, we don't use your contacts for anything else than for you interact with your friends. We will never share this information with anyone and we also encrypt everything you send us so that even I can't look at your contacts.
@arturkiulian π€ weird... I've tried that many many times and it was working fine. I promise I'll have a look at it asap and we'll release an update to fix it if that's the case! Thanks again for your feedback!
@jasonkyren I feel always like @arturkiulian when i use a new app which requests contacts permissions. And of course it's the total opposite if I'm planning an UX for a new own app with all the advantages of deep integrations. We need a path to grow trust with our new users. I have no final solution but visualizing the data before sending and explaining the value proposition seems promising.
Product from a Team I've been following since quite a while now and love the direction they're taking.
It's a twist on your basic calendar with a reworked interface to make it more playful + a chat for each event you create. They've also just started adding some intelligence in there to help you find the right time to set an event with your friends. Definitely worth a look ππ»
@cyrilpaglino Hey! I just installed it but it's not accepting my Dutch phone number +31(0)612345678 so i couldn't even try it for just the calendar features.. :(
@stinhambo Hey Steven, you can either import events from your phone's calendars, or create some manually from the app. It will also be possible to import from any calendar (Google, etc.) directly from the app in a near future
Couldn't have come at a better time for when everyone has decided to sort their shit out in the new year. I for one will be giving this a solid try as I've just got too much overlap from calendars and apps atm.
@sobeyharker Nice to hear! If you find the time, please send us your feedbacks as we're constantly trying to improve the experience in the app! Cheers! π€
Love the app because of our latest experiment (https://www.reprime.io). I tried using it in India and after asking my phone number, it keeps showing "Sending phone number..." with a loading sign and then nothing happens. Cannot move past the first screen. Is it available in India? :)
Hey it seems awesome product guys but I m not able to verify my phone number from India
I tried my USA number as well but no luck
is there any particular format for phone number ?
I had an opportunity to interact with the Gong team a couple weeks ago and I'm thrilled that this product is now on Product Hunt. The team communicated so well, answered my questions, helped me out, and made sure everything was in order - some great customer service. If the team indicates anything about the product, we know it's going to be π₯π₯π₯
Nicely done @alxndr_pereira and @jasonkyren!
We'll try our best to reply to everyone, always! All feedbacks are obviously welcome and we can't wait to show you what we have in store next! @kevinguebert thank you for the kind words!! π»
Excellent idea. I do this now for friends using a special Gmail account and I invite them to book themselves in with me for any of my concerts/shows. I would love something like this to make it even easier! Have you thought about getting feedback from friends so that they get a say in what they want to do too?
@nassaraf Thanks! Yes we've already started getting feedbacks from friends and early users and some things are starting to stand out from the rest. But I'd love to get more feedbacks from anyone who's interested in helping us improve Gong. If you already have your own ideas to make it more useful to you to organise your concerts please send me a message / email!
@inditravlr the chat feature is (for now) embedded within the app yes. The idea is to have everything in the same place really so that you know where to look when you'll try to find the info about an event someone invited you to.
PS: You can still export those events back to your phone calendar if you reeaally need to ;)
This is truly awesome! Incredibly exciting with backed in products that provide contextual elements without having to tell xyz friend what I am talking about because of the chat-based events! Awesome job @Jasonkyren & @alxndr_pereira!
Thanks a lot for your comment @as_austin! We are planning on simplifying the experience even more when it comes to chatting within the app. We'll keep you posted!
Hey Byron (@jbs) thanks for the kind words! If your Google calendar is already synched on your iPhone you should see it appear in the list. We are also working to update app and allow many more calendars to be added directly from the app! :)
Hey @kadiskad! Your message is very heartwarming! It should indeed be available in Canada and the rest of the world. Would you like to send me an email at jay@get-gong.com so I can sort this out for you? π
Um I just downloaded Gong for the first time, tried to sync my calendars, and got an error message - twice. Saying reason (null). Unfortunately uninstalling.
It doesn't work for me. I tried different phone numbers and still get the same message "We couldn't validate your phone number, please try again later." From a user perspective, the message is downright useless. It doesn't tell me what happened, if anything, and why it cannot validate the phone number.
