I created the GOTU State of Survivorship Report after a visit to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Armed with a proposal for new policies and actions that would better protect and support survivors, I was me with pushback due to there being a lack of governmental information needed to make such changes. As a survivor, this didn't feel right. I refused to be defeated. I refused to continue to suffer (and sit by while millions of people continue to suffer). Connections with other survivors confirmed that we needed support from the "top-down" and weren't getting it. I knew that we wouldn't get it if someone didn't step up. So,I started doing my own research, started ideating GOTU. It's tough realizing that no one coming to save us (SA survivors or do more to stop ongoing victimizations). So, through working together, we've decided to start saving ourselves by socializing specific needs and doing the research that is required to help people understand survivorship. I hope you support this product by reading the report, reaching out to ask questions, and helping to create safer spaces.
