Canvas opens in a separate window, allowing you and ChatGPT to collaborate on a project. This early beta introduces a new way of working together—not just through conversation, but by creating and refining ideas side by side.
This looks so slick. The icons alone are droolworthy! 🤤
Regardless — this is what Clippy should have been, it only took 28 years to get here.
Very curious to see how Claude Artifacts will compare to canvas — or Lex, for that matter.
We're entering the era of subjective computing; it'll become very hard to compare apples to apples since most features will commoditize. It'll be a matter of how these platforms adapt to the personal preferences and data of the user.
Canvas will be available to Enterprise & Edu users next week.
@chrismessina hehe Clippy.. what memories!! In any case a great improvement on ChatGPT interface.
When features converge in power and quality, the design and UX of a digital product is the ultimate feature to make the user fall in love and opt for one digital product or another. Apple knows well.
Thanks for hunt it! ;)
@chrismessina looks pretty slick, for basic html they should just render it though. In addition there is a bug section, but in my example there was an obvious bug that should have been caught on the generation step. Still needs some work but glad that they are understanding that they are in a UX battle here, not a tech battle. My reaction to it:
@chrismessina I didn't even know about Claude Artifacts. I have the startup version of OpenAI so canvas is not available yet. But will try Claude Artifacts 😸 And yes very AQR8 assessment regarding "commodity-zation".
This will definitely enhance the way I work with chatGPT. Many times my discussions go on for a while iterating over the same function. Now that I see this, it makes complete sense!
Tried it and this is comically good. OpenAI is killing it...now if we can just get them to ethically source their content. Email from Credtent.org coming your way, Mr. Altman.
@hunter Wow, this is truly a game-changer!
The concept of collaborating with ChatGPT in a separate window through Canvas is a brilliant step forward. It's like having a digital brainstorming partner right next to you. The sleek design and droolworthy icons only add to the excitement. I agree, it does feel like the evolution of Clippy, elevating the user experience to a whole new level. I'm intrigued to see how Canvas stacks up against other tools like Claude Artifacts and Lex. As we dive deeper into subjective computing, the way these platforms cater to personal user preferences will indeed become the defining factor.
Looking forward to seeing Canvas in action with Enterprise & Edu users next week!
An exciting new way to collaborate! 🎨 I love the idea of working alongside AI in a more visual and interactive space, especially for brainstorming and refining ideas together.
Finally, artifacts on ChatGPT! (canvas... canvases?) 🎨
It's just simple UI handling and a bit of prompt engineering, but it's really useful, and a nice experience bump. If you're curious about the prompt or details I can share below.
Honestly, once I started using Cursos, artifacts are the last thing keeping me on my Claude subscription, as the API seems to work better without all their pre-prompting, and their message limits are waaay too restrictive.
So I was ready to drop Claude Pro, that was going to be it, time to switch back!
But then I got to test Canvas. And I'm not convinced. It has a bunch of nice utilities, like quick edits and partial edits (this is probably the best part). But rendering doesn't work very well (hasn't for me at all yet)
Looking forward to checking it as it progresses, which I'm confident it will. The UX improvement is good, but it's no breakthrough.
It's a new level of opportunities!
This change will significantly improve the work with ChatGPT, as it is now much easier and faster to use. For programmers, this is a really great improvement that makes it easier to complete tasks.
It is really impressive and I am very satisfied after using it.
Congrats on the launch! This looks really slick. Love the idea of subjective computing. Any plans to expand on custom user preferences over time? Also, how will Canvas work for smaller teams or individuals, or is it mainly focused on bigger enterprises?
🚀 Loving the innovation behind ChatGPT Canvas! 🖼️
This tool is a game-changer for visualizing AI-driven workflows and ideation. The flexibility to map out complex ideas in a canvas format really takes brainstorming to the next level. 🎨
