Very cool and very needed right now!

@thatmattgardner thanks for helping us Beta testing and your product feedback was super helpful :)

@BEASTMODE reminds me a lot of Fresco News
Kash Pourdeilami

I really really like the map view. I follow soccer and with ground I can zoom in on Manchester, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona, etc. to follow different matches and see what is happening

Pros:

Great balance between local and global news, very well designed and polished interface, the map view

Cons:

none so far

Harleen Kaur
Thanks Kash- glad you like it!!

How does the fake news flagging work? Qualified journalists flag news you are streaming in as fake?
Ilit Raz
Super cool app!
Wes Worsfold

I posted a story about an auto accident closing lanes of traffic yesterday and received immediate response from other users that my post helped their commute. New is from many sources and verified as not being FAKE news.

Pros:

Great local news coverage, it distills the need to know info

Cons:

none so far . . .

Harleen Kaur
Thank you! We saw your story, great use case for the app :)
Danielle Graham

One of my favorite

Pros:

Great way to see a place before you visit- closest way to feel like you're on the ground

Cons:

Other users asking often to see where live

Harleen Kaur
Thanks Danielle :)

Congrats on the Launch! Where do you see Ground going in the next 6-12 months, Harleen? More crowdsourced news? More AI? More editorial? Looks great so far!
Harleen Kaur
@andrewpflynn thanks ! Plan is to keep adding more news sources. We have over 10K news publications included but we aim to have every single credible international/national and local publication included.
Paul Banks
So am I to assume this app aggregates news from only MSM sites or does it also curate news from independent sources?
Harleen Kaur
@paul_banks we get news from 3 sources over 10K publications ( big guys like CNN, BBC down to your local newspaper), Social Media ( what we can verify) and news reported by Ground users. Every time a user reports a news, a notification is sent to users in vicinity ti verify/debunk ( similar to reporting accidents on Waze)
Harleen Kaur
haha very funny @seanmmasters ! never heard kekspiracy theories before 🤣
Paul Banks
@harleen Thanks for your quick response, I am downloading the app now. BTW I love the concept, congrats!!!
Harleen Kaur
@paul_banks thanks! Looking forward to your feedback :)

Great app, great concept! I've following the news-tech domain fairly closely and this seems like a promising concept to get rid of fake news as well as serving location based relevant content to the users. However I feel that this could grow multifold passively serving as the backbone for various news apps across the globe. Do you by any chance plan to open up the API?
Crista Renner
My new go-to tool for news. It curates everything in one place, and I can look at a headline but access various perspectives from different news outlets to understand different points of view. I can access based on the latest news, top headlines, or my fave - the map view.
Harleen Kaur
@crista_renner thanks for supporting us!!
Shadab Rashid

I like the fact that I can see across the map which events are the important or active ones, as opposed to just living in my own North American bubble. The reliability and verification of the source is even more important to me.

Pros:

Verification history (e.g. by the different Press entities) really helps me to trust the source.

Cons:

Will need more users at the locations to really benefit from the live crowd responses.

Harleen Kaur
Thanks Shadab- we will do our best to get more users!!
Manny
This logo looks exactly like http://www.theground.se/ logo. Related?
Lee Warren
@manny_orduna It's the electrical ground symbol, so no surprise there's more than one company using it.
Harleen Kaur
@manny_orduna no worries! We went a bit geeky on the logo :)
Alain H
Very interesting product. Do you have an API?
Sarah Landstreet

love the concept, neat team behind it too! timely and powerful. keep it up.

Pros:

map is awesome, let's me zoom in to geographic regions of interest and find things I would not have otherwise! love the verification aspect

Cons:

none

List and map views of news. I use a lot of news services and Ground has my favorite.

Pros:

Verified news summary, global or local. Links to more indepth news

Cons:

Nothing so far . .

Harleen Kaur
Thanks Guy- we have figured out that there are people who like exploring the Map and people who like efficient feed format. We have included both the features.
Michał Urbanowicz
During the times of fake news this could be great solution! Nice idea!
Harleen Kaur
@michal_urbanowicz thanks! we are trying to combine tech with traditional journalism and eyewitness commentary to provide a full picture. Hope you like it :)
