Compare the news and judge the truth for yourself!
To combat misinformation and media bias, Ground News Pro lets users easily compare how outlets from across the political spectrum and around the world are covering the same news event
Wow, i love the concept. Something that fits a real need for those on any side of the political spectrum looking to validate their perspective and bias. Cool stuff :) !
How is the Ground News score different than any of the three bias rating orgs used? I like the idea of seeing how a news story evolves over time, but I am not sure how I would use that information unless I knew it was the end. ?makers
Very cool. I've been dreading catching up with the news everyday and this alleviates some of the anxiety that comes along with polarized headlines of today's world. Congrats on a terrific product
Personally really enjoy the bias rating...especially with the polarizing coverage for the current impeachment trials. Curious how the product's algorithms takes into account bias nuances? Overall, impressed with the output.
Hi PH- here is a link to my story and inspiration for launching Ground News Pro https://medium.com/@harleen_kaur...
TLDR: Being a former NASA engineer I believe that understanding news should not be harder than rocket science.
Launching Ground News Pro the world’s first news source comparison platform that will help voters make better-informed decisions, drawing from more than 40,000 news sources worldwide and featuring an average of 30,000 news stories per day.
Some features that set up apart:
- Compare news sources per story and see extreme versions ( that your friends and neighbours might be reading)
- Sort news sources by Bias, Time and Location
- Follow over 150k topics, sources, locations
@harleen_kaur@harleen Does the bias track the assumed political leanings of the publications alone or actual biased sentiment in the content of the articles - or both?
I think this is an incredibly smart idea/product. Especially with politics seemingly becoming more and more polarizing. I think it will also help combat pandering from political news outlets (providing better and more accurate news reporting) and help people become more informed on news and/or politics.
This is very cool, although I wouldn't say it's the first - spidr.today accomplishes something similar. Regardless, this is an impressive implementation and I'm excited to give it a shot.
@savannah_king_norton Thanks Savannah! Yes, please do give it a shot and feedback is very welcome! I took a quick look at spidr, will check it out more after PH. One thing we really emphasize at Ground News is the bias of each news publication. Eg. this story about Iran has Iranian, Israeli, US and sources from all over the world from left and right https://app.ground.news/article/...
Really nice ! Very useful features 👌
I’m french and did not expect titles to be translated, it was a great surprise.
Let’s hope that we can have the same with french news (and other countries) in the future 👏👏👏
@matcornic1 Thanks Mathieu :) Glad you like the translation. We do translate the articles as well and have a lots of local sources. Pleas let us know if we can improve anything once you have had the chance to use it more.
I've been looking for something like this for a while!
It's super useful to see what different countries report on - not only to see what they talk about but also to see what they don't talk about. That's the best way to see through the propaganda and understand what each country is afraid of. For example, I remember seeing that China barely reported on the Arab Spring, and when they did it was super biased, and that says a lot about the country.
