As a past guide myself, I can personally attest to the problem these guys are addressing. GuidHire is a web and soon to be app solution to your guide hiring problems and is directly serving the $1B+ booking side of the industry. I believe they are also building out functionality to help retailers, travel companies, etc.

Macgill and I built the product to solve a problem that we ran into as consumers - currently there is no one place to research, book, and review guided outdoor activities. Taking cues from companies like OpenTable, AirBnB, and Porch.com, to name a few - what we have is that centralized marketplace that we desired in the industry. On the vendor side - GuideHire aims to provide guides, outfitters, and instructors with an improved web presence, easily customizable company pages, and a way to market their business for free.
