@chrisvxd Wow, you know our feature pretty well! I'm bad at drawing those diagrams by hand so it's literally helpful for me. Happy to find you, thanks!
The best online markdown editor. And I wrtie this after having tried them all! dillinger.io is a close second, stackedit.io is a nice third. But hackmd.io is miles ahead of the league.
Simple and smooth user interface, great performance when it comes to collaboration(yeah speed is everything), rich markdown extended syntaxes, and with GitHub integration. HackMD is by far the most satisfying markdown editor for me!
Hi everyone, I'm the creator of HackMD.
It's really happy that we helped many people and project use Markdown to collaborate at small to large scale in the past years. I also believe there are more possibilities for us to discover. It's our honor to spread the culture of simple writing and sharing knowledge for teams to boost productivity right in the workflow.
Feel free to let us know any feedback and share you love, we are all ears :)
HackMD is a great tool for taking structured notes during meetings, creating a brief project outline, or collaborating on a full project brief. The developers are highly responsive, and I couldn't recommend this product more!
Awesome work. Simple, Elegant and user-friendly, people could use it without hinders despite not knowing how to code (e.g, writing Markdown). Yet still allow people to create graphs and charts in a blink, even if they can't draw or paint one.
@steward379 Appreciated! We enable people to "write" diagrams in the note/doc which definitely help to track the changes among the versions. We will keep up to be simple and elegant.
There is much to like, but would be *much* better to adopt the WYSIWYG approach of Typora, and avoid the split screen editor+preview.
Also, when I try some complex searches the search function crashes. And search seems only to work in the open note: it does not search across multiple notes, which is very limited.
In my workflow, I would use HackMD as a companion app to Typora, when I want to share a doc with others for discussion and feedback.
@stowe_boyd Thanks for the review! We have tried many approach to have Typora-like editor, but it's quite annoying that the blocks expand and shrink while editing with other people. Yet we still looking for a solution which can help people who used to WYSIWYG can collaborate with people used to Markdown.
For the search function, we recently added a search box that can search across all workspaces on sidebar of the Overview page and a Spotlight-like search box on the top-left of the navbar in the note page, please try those searches and let us know how you feel.
I'm also pretty curious about where did the search broken, please report to support@hackmd.io which help us to learn and improve our tool, thanks again!
I haven't used HackMD for quite a while. Recently I visit the site and was impressed by its improvement and the stability. It is by far the best markdown editor and I've been recommending it to my friends.
I like the instructions and auto-complete when open a new project. The preview mode is also very friendly and well-structured to read. My favorite part is that this product really makes me focus on writing, enjoy writing.
@new_user_2490f7b858 Thanks for the review. I'm really glad that you found we always strived on performance and those did improve the whole experience!
Since starting to use hackmd 2 months ago, I have only used hackmd for my daily journaling, and collaborative documentation. I love the integration with github, and the choice of RTE for the UI. If you like markdown, hackmd adds a number of warm and fuzzy bonus features. If you are new to markdown, hackmd makes it super easy to learn markdown.
I can't recommend hackmd enough. I am sure it's not for everyone. If you are a google docs super user, and you're happy with your existing workflow, you may not benefit from this. However, if you are bored of the stale or rigid offerings of other docs, hackmd is a fresh perspective on keeping notes and creating documentation. HackMD has radically simplified my workflow and for that I am most thankful.
@jessedata Thanks for the recommendation! I can't be more excited on reading your experiences and highlights! Those are totally what we expected to bring to every user and your warm review will keep us up :)
I really enjoy using HackMD to collect my random thoughts into structured notes. It is easy to use, and with many different modes like book mode, slide mode and so on. The coolest part is that you can commit your note to GitHub by one click!
@catcatcatcat_hong hey! thanks for sharing such cool products with us. Could you please update your profile by adding your name? We are always happy to feature products that are hunted from the personal profiles :)
