HackMD has a brand new look!
We are delighted to share some exciting news. After months of hard work, creativity, and a lot of coffee, we are proud to unveil our rebrand! 🎉
Here at HackMD, we’ve always been about empowering collaboration and making documentation a breeze for everyone. As we’ve grown, we’ve realized it’s time for our visual identity to grow with us. We wanted a look that reflects who we are now and where we’re headed in the future.
So what can you expect?
- A refreshed logo: Sleek, modern, and inspired by the tools we use every day.
- Vibrant new colors: Bold and energetic, adding a dynamic feel to our website and teased in the latest Dark Mode update.
- Revamped pages: Check out our redesigned homepage, blog, changelog, solutions, pricing, and about pages.
Let us know what you think! We'd love your feedback.
While the new look is kinda nice, does anyone else feel like this rebrand is more about style over substance, I mean, we need better features for real collaboration, not just fancy colors, What's your take on this?
Hi @baindatawhizz -- What other features would help with your collaboration experience on HackMD? With the flexible permissioning, native commenting, version control, and suggested edits (to name a few), users are able to collaborate with ease. But would love to learn more about what's missing from your perspective.
I tried this new thing, but is it really saving time tho, feels like just another editor we don't need, maybe some features will help but overall I don't see the big deal, it's like reinventing the wheel but shinier.
Good luck with the relaunch, the new look is nice but I hope the actual performance and user experience match the aesthetics, I’ve seen too many tools that focus on looks but fall short on functionality, let’s hope this isn't one of them 🤞
That's a fair concern, but we're definitely not style over substance, @engageleader. And we're always keen to learn more about the user experience. How has your experience been with HackMD's text-editor?
So you rebranded, cool
but does changing the look fix the usability issues? Curious if you worked more on function rather then just making it look pretty
Hi @joeytechlead -- What usability issues have you encountered? We're continuously working to enhance the experience on HackMD and are always keen to learn new ways to do just that.
Stumbled upon this through a friend's recommendation, the new look is fine but I think the features n functionality matter more, any plans to add integrations with other document platforms like Google Docs? Feels like it could use more ways to connect with other tools, btw is there a mobile app planned?
Hi @opsleader20 -- Great question! We currently integrate with GitHub, which users have found helpful when syncing documentation with project builds. And we also integrate with Arweave, a web3 native platform, so if users want to they can directly publish their work to the Arweave blockchain.
For a Google Docs integration, can you explain a little about what you'd like to see in that integration? Would you like to import docs from Google to HackMD and vice versa? Or is there another use case that would be helpful for you?
Ok, I get it, collaboration is nice and all, but what happens when one person's changes overwrite another's work, does it have version control, and can't we have better integrations with other tools, feels a bit basic right now, just saying
@railsrubydev Yes! HackMD's text-editor has version control. Because you're exactly right, when collaborating with others, it's so important to be able to reference changes made and the historical data.
I'd love to learn the integrations you're interested in! Right now we support GitHub syncing, Sign-in with ETH, Arweave, LaTeX, and UML diagrams.
Wow! I love HackMD - the line-by-line attribution makes it pretty awesome for real-time editing - thinking together on a page. Excited to check out this refresh. I've been wondering what's going on with the company! @rachel_golden what's your plan for the future?
Oh wow! So delighted to hear that you're enjoying the product, @rajiv_ayyangar. :) I can't give away too much, but at a high-level we're working to add functionality to make publishing more flexible and interactive, to streamline workflows, and to help teams connect with and reach a wider audience.
Over the past year, we added native commenting and suggest edit to the text-editor, improved the LaTeX and UML capabilities, and integrated with Sign-in with ETH and Arweave to empower users to truly own their documentation.
And we're always eager to learn more about the product experience. If there's a feature, integration, functionality, or anything in-between that would enhance your documentation on platform, please let us know!
Found it through a friend, the rebrand looks kinda flashy but is it just me or does it feel a bit over the top, also could use some more advanced markdown features for better customization, think that would step it up, what do others think
