Hashnode is a powerful blogging platform with a central developer community. It helps software developers start a personal blog on their own domain and find readership from the community, thereby solving the problem of content ownership and discoverability!

Hi PH πŸ‘‹ I am Sandeep, co-founder of Hashnode. I am super excited to be here and share what we have been working on at Hashnode. How does Hashnode work? πŸ‘€ Hashnode helps developers start a personal blog on their own domain for free and find readership from an active dev community. We realized that traditional publishing platforms offer visibility and engagement at the cost of content ownership. On the other hand if you go with a self hosted solution, your articles don't get proper visibility and reach. Hashnode combines the best of both worlds. It lets you map a custom domain and publish articles under your own branding and also distributes them to a built in developer community. We launched in June this year and have been growing 30% in different KPIs month over month. So, it has been a crazy ride so far. πŸ˜€ Why should you care? πŸ€” We believe every developer must have a personal blog and they should publish content on their own domain. There is no reason you should give away your content to other platforms and get locked in. That's why we not only help developers use their own domain, but also make it super easy to exit Hashnode. By publishing content on your own domain you grow your online presence and build your authority. You can always republish on other platforms that respect canonical URLs for extra visibility. Some of the features our users absolutely love: - Ability to map a custom domain for free 🌍 - Write articles in markdown with proper syntax highlighting ✍️ - Get automated backups of your articles on your private GitHub repo - Use GitHub as a source for your articles - Automatic HTTPS - Fast CDN ⚑️ - Quick support on our Discord server - Customize your blog with CSS - Built in newsletter service - Powerful integration with third party services (e.g. Fathom analytics, Hotjar and so on) - Support for embedding any third party widget - Web Monetization support We curated some of the reviews here: https://hashnode.com/testimonials We ship features and improve the platform every day. Do try out Hashnode. It takes a few seconds to map a domain and start building your audience. I would love to have your feedback. Feel free to add a comment here or DM me on twitter (@Sandeepg33k).

@sandeepg33k Congrats Sandeep :) Just to understand, if you don't mind, how do you plan to monetise this (even if it might not be an immediate goal)? Would this be through premium accounts to access content OR through unobtrusive ads? OR something else :)
Sandeep Panda
Hey @karthik_sridharan Thanks for the comment! We plan on introducing PRO plans for individuals and teams. In future, we will most likely help businesses build their dev communities using Hashnode and charge a monthly subscription fee for that. It's still in very early stage though. However, blogging will always be free for individual developers. :)
Karthik Sridharan
@sandeepg33k Wow, that's quite interesting. By any chance do you have a write-up on it where I could gather more information about this?
Sandeep Panda
@karthik_sridharan Thanks - I wrote very briefly about it here: https://hashnode.com/post/hashno... Hope you find it useful. If you ever need to discuss or brainstorm anything, my twitter DM is open. :)

@sandeepg33k Hi there, congrats on the launch! Since this has been launched before, what's changed since then? Would be great for the community to know.

Migrating from WordPress to Hashnode was my best decision. I get all the features I need as a dev blogger, and then some! The community is their strongest suit! No other platform puts your articles in front of thousands of readers like Hashnode does. You can join their Discord channel where the bloggers are talking about blogging ideas, requesting platform features, hanging out, sharing useful stuff, and you get to be a part of that. Feature wise, you get Custom Pages, Custom CSS, Analytics, Web Monetization, and if you invite 3 friends, you also get Custom Widgets, so you can plug your MailChimp or any other integrations you have. And, crazy enough, all of that is free!!! Just bring your own domain! ❀️ @fazlerocks @sandeepg33k and the Hashnode team, congratulations on the PH launch and thank you guys for building this. The dev community needs this. Keep up the great work! πŸ™Œ πŸš€

Thanks @lazar_nikolov1 πŸ™ You are awesome. :)

Hey Sandeep, Syed and the rest of the Hashnode team, congrats on the launch! Early adopter here. I switched my blog from Wordpress to Hashnode. What's the story? Well, I got tired of being in charge how my blog will look and feel. I want to write blogs, not to worry is my font 12pt or 14pt. Should I put width 720px or 1200px. And with the WP, you have all the customisation you need. And that was killing me. I need a refreshment. Some "opinionated" platform where the look and feel is predetermined and optimised. With a community. I have to emphasise the support from the founders in the early days (via twitter). They really wanted to get new users. And guess what, they were offering good things in return. Free domain, and even linking your domain to your hashnode blog. And the community is constantly rising. And you really feel being part of it. Probably I couldn't get that by joining [dev to], which is already massive. You know what is also great about Hashnode - they republish your content on other platforms (reddit, hackernews) if they like your blog posts. - they allow non dev blogpost (just mark it as a non dev, and it won't go to the hashnode dev community, but will stay on your blog) - there's a Request For Articles section where members are requesting articles and you can see which articles have already high demand. Hashnode team is also organising dev writing bootcamps where they teach people how to write technical blogs more effectively. All in all, a bit of refreshment on a dev blogging platform scene. Recommendations to try it.

The best platform for Dev Blogger. No more words needed. Manages analytics, import/export, newsletter, integration with other blogging platforms

Hashnode made it super easy for me to publish my thoughts easily and straightforward. Everything is written in Markdown, you can add widgets, analytics, and other amazing features. The team is super responsive, they adapt ideas, change fast, and listen to the community. Great job team Hashnode. You rock!

I have never done blogging before. I always thought that there would be no one who will be interested to read what I say. But when Hashnode started getting popular among my friends' circle, I decided to give it a try. The onboarding/sign up process was very simple. It takes less than 5 mins to set up everything and even map your custom domain to your blog. I have started my blogging journey seriously since the start of October 2020. Since then, a lot of people have read my articles. I attribute most of this to Hashnode and their team. With Hashnode, your articles will get instant visibility as soon as you publish it on the platform. Moreover, the team at Hashnode does everything they can to increase visibility for your blog posts. Creating a blog on Hashnode is the easiest way to start your developer blog in 2020. One thing I like about Hashnode is how the founders listen to users' feedback directly. Many of the features that are present on Hashnode are direct suggestions from users. They even have a public dashboard where you can submit feature requests or log a bug report. You can even talk to the founders directly through Hashnode's discord community. If you want to start creating technical content through blogs, Hashnode is the best way to do so. Thanks again @fazlerocks and @sandeepg33k for creating such an awesome platform.

@pbteja1998 We are happy to hear that you are finding Hashnode useful. Thank you for sharing your experience. :)

It's great to see a platform like Hashnode emerge, which helps developers focus on writing instead of tinkering with their tech stack, and still having control over their canonical URL. I recommend it to any dev who wants to start their tech blog quickly and not have to think about all the moving parts like hosting, email, and technical setup!
Fazle Rahman
@monicalent Thank you, Monica, for your feedback. πŸ™‚
Rahul
I have been using this platform from some months. Hashnode has only pros no cons. @sandeepg33k and @fazlerocks have helped me in problems that I had faced. Hashnode has features of WordPress and gatsby. You just need a simple domain or leave that is also free. If you're not using this platform then I would recommend you to use this for blogging.
Fazle Rahman
@rahxul Good to hear that, Rahul. Thank you for sharing your feedback.
Chris Bongers

@chris_bongers Thank you Chris for adding your feedback here. Reading your article every morning on Hashnode, has become a habit for me now. :) :)
Niels Mouthaan
Great timing. I'm planning to start sharing some of my knowledge by writing a blog and was wondering what platform to use. Either self-hosted or something like Medium but they both have negative aspects that you seemed to have solved. Going to give it a try this week!
Fazle Rahman
@nielsmouthaan1 Looking forward to your blog on Hashnode, Niels.
Michaela Greiler
Hey @sandeepg33k and @fazlerocks, Congrats on such a great product! I love Hashnote and the community. Enabling people to own their content and work is also such a refreshing stand. Where other platforms focus on "milking" their users, I always saw Fazle and Sandeep take a stand that bloggers and the tech community get their fair share!
Fazle Rahman
@mgreiler Thank you Michaela. Content ownership + discoverability (readership) is something bloggers have always searched for. We are proudly solving that at Hashnode.
Tapas Adhikary
Hashnode is a great community created by awesome developers for developers. I have been learning, sharing, communicating on Hashnode for a while now, and finding it a great booster for a dev, content creator like me. The founders @sandeepg33k and @fazlerocks go to any extent possible to get the questions answered and keep the community engaged. My Hashnode powered blog is doing very well with the features it provides for content creators(draft sharing, analytics, blog customizations, SEO, service integrations, built-in Newsletter service, many more.). If you are a developer aspiring to create technical content, join Hashnode, and create your blog. You will own your content and enjoy being part of the community that is known for helping each other. If you have a custom domain, you can map that too. If you are just looking to learn and explore, you can join the community and follow the tags of your interest. You will have tons of technical resources on your fingertips straightway. Last but not the least, Hashnode is super fast with exceptionally least downtime in the past. The support thread in the Discord channel is available round the clock to help you out. It's a great platform to try out, get used to, and earn benefit out of it. Being part of it since its initial avatar, I can convincingly say that, Hashnode has come a long way so far to solve the developer's problem in a unique way. Kudos. As a Content creator/ technology blogger, I am super happy with Hashnode and highly recommending it.
Fazle Rahman
Thank you @tapasadhikary for a detailed review. πŸ™

A few months ago, someone mentioned to me about Hashnode for my blog, as an alternative to Medium. Been using the platform for a while now and I love it. Friendly staff, easy set up, and lots of great tools for bloggers. Totally recommend this to everyone. Great job!

@dudzik Thank you, Austin, for sharing your experience! πŸ™‚
