Create a beautiful shareable profile that shows what you do, how you work, and who you are. Use it to make real connections with the people you work with—new hires, mentors, and collaborators. Next time you introduce yourself, just share your Helm link!

I love the idea of connecting internal teams through a human-first platform. Helm offers so much insight into who we work with every day even if we don't directly work with them which is a huge value add for the various, large teams that I work with. There's a lot of potential here!

Connection is a fickle thing. Everyone is fatigued by new tools trying to solve this problem, yet it persists more and more. The harder we try, the more we contribute to the problem. Using Slack more, taking an extra Zoom meeting and happy hour. But at the end of the day it just does more harm, because in the effort of trying to connect us, not only does it fail, it leaves us feeling hopeless. At least before we had hope that we could solve the problem with technology, but once you try using these tools to bridge connection, you discover they can only take you so far, they can only do so much. They make collaboration in a decentralized world not only possible, but a thriving reality! As for cultivating the feeling of connection . . . not so much The problem of disconnection truly remains a human one. Humans are social creatures. We need social interaction and human connection, not technological connection. The truth is, technology is never going to substitute human interaction. Whilst connection can't be augmented with technology, the reality remains that we live in a technological world, in both work and life, and that isn't going away. The other reality is we live in a global, decentralized world and we're moving further and further in that direction. So what can we actually do? Well, the answer lies in using technology to complement and assist the human experience, not replace it. We can use technology to give people information to help them foster new connections, maintain relationships, and build community. By keeping information continuously up-to-date and feeding people relevant information, we can bridge the overwhelm gap and allow people to do what they do best, be human.

hey all! it's been an awesome few months @ Helm! your feedback + love from last time was HUGE. so, here's what we've been up to: first - I'm a people person. I've also worked in 6 states this month. and one big thing I've noticed is that it's harder to build spontaneous, real connection over zoom + slack - especially when you're new to a community. that spontaneous connection goes so deep - it's not just how we work, it's why we work. and it makes the things we build so much better. so, with @michio_hillyer, @brad_browning, and @austin_drabik, we're re-launching Helm (2.0): the people wiki that makes genuine, meaningful connections. today, we're starting with the profile. once you make that, wait until you see what's in store! (a people wiki that stays automatically up-to-date, does the work to connect you, and makes it super easy to find people to talk to about...anything.) everyone deserves to be seen, understood, and loved. (this isn’t a hot take). cheers, kai

Couldn't be more excited for this launch 🚀 Together, we’ve been brainstorming, building, and launching software products for nearly 4 years now – and we’ve gained SO much from it. We really had no idea what we got ourselves into when we started Helm but our vision for a better world of work guided us forward. We’ve learned what it takes to thoroughly understand what the market needs and how to build an effective, simple solution to serve it. We've certainly failed numerous times. But we've also gotten stronger, more driven, more focused, and smarter every time. We've come to understand each other, our strengths, and our own potential even more. And we're not going to stop. 🌌 Our vision: a world of work where employees own their identities with an elegant, easy-to-read wiki page, making connection feel frictionless and more human. Today's launch puts us one step closer towards making this vision a reality. Users can set up their own, personal profiles for work and share them with a unique link. From there, we'll keep you posted on what's in store! ⭐️ Build your wiki page (in under 10 minutes) to get free, early access 💬 Let us know what you like and what could be better! 📻 Stay tuned – Team product coming in April

Love the direction here and it's such a REAL need. I've run up against problems onboarding into a new company during pandemic, especially in product mgmt, because building relationships is hard online. This makes people feel a bit more approachable, and I'm interested to see where it can lead. In addition to "understanding someone" as a basis for connection, I think a huge problem in the remote world is actually creating the space for that connection to be built. Zoom parties are obviously not it.. the product Donut can help, but there's an opportunity to take it further. Love the direction, keep it up!

It's great hearing your perspective on this! 100% agree Zoom parties and Donut help but aren't enough. Thanks for sharing!

This product has been a ton of fun to design, research and build. Looking forward to getting any and all feedback from the community

Nice job all! Would love to see this integrated into other tools like Notion embed or Slack bot.
Austin Drabik
@jamesstirrat Ahh! Thanks Jamie! Please stay tuned because we already have a dynamic Slack bot built and offering it in our Team plan. Our next phase is looking to add integrations for all work tools to make the profiles more dynamic and up-to-date. I'll add points to Notion on the priority list!
