Hemingway Editor 2.0 — An editor that makes your writing bold and clear

I've been using the v1 desktop and found it helpful when trying to write for certain situations. A lot of times, I cannot avoid techie talk etc., but I like to run important documents and blog posts and even critical emails via Hemingway for an opinion. @adam_b_long could you please elaborate on how v1 users can get their v2 upgrade? thx

I'm bought the Hemingway Editor a while ago and it proved to be really handy. I use it on a daily basis to verify my writings are simple enough. Mainly I double check longer emails, meeting summaries I post to Slack and for blog posts. Fantastic tool. Thx for developing it @adam_b_long

Been using Hemingway for a while, find it really helpful. New version is out for Mac/Win with new features like formatting, import/export and auto update. Happy 2.0 upgrade is free to those who originally have the app.

I have to say I'm conflicted about this app. After using the web version for about a day, I decided to pay for it instantly because it just brings so much value. I tend to write very long sentences so Hemingway has been great to keep me grounded. I find my blogposts have become a lot more readable and enjoyable thanks to Hemingway. That said, the desktop app is full of bugs. I'm not exaggerating, it seriously is. Anyone who has used it should be able to back me up on this. I'm talking: way too many bugs to be tolerable for a $10 product. Just right there I started typing randomly on V2 and here's what I get on the very first annotation that popped up: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s... "Very" should appear once, outlined and not in purple. That's just an example. But I've had these sort of visual bugs happen on V1 A LOT and now it looks like V2 hasn't solved much, which is unfortunate. I get that it's probably a very small team or even a single person working on this. But I would question my ethics selling this for $10 especially when it's so inferior to the web app. Edit: of course, I'm very willing to help. Be it to file bugs, send tweets with screenshots and whatever is needed to spot out these issues and correct them. You know where to find me.

I use the webapp occasionally and it works great. I'm curious why you chose to land on the mac purchase page? http://www.hemingwayapp.com/desk... is much more descriptive and includes the PC option.

Love the app, although indeed there are still some small bugs in it. Installed the v2 straight away, when copy pasting text from another document in the application it format it strangely and unusable. ( http://cl.ly/image/1A3V123u2241 ). This is probably just a small annoyance, so hopefully be fixed soon. The rest of the app rocks and helps you really to focus on making better readable content!

Should have released this version on July 21st, which is Hemingway's birthday, instead of on the 19th... so close.

I love the original Hemingway. Been using it for over a year on any writing related work. Very useful. Looking forward to giving this new version a try!

I've been using Hemingway for the last couple of months and have used it to make the process of editing my first novel (a huuuge task) a little more manageable. FWIW, I don't recall running into any major bugs during that 65-70k word process. The only thing was that I wished its export options made it a little easier to go back and forth between Ulysses (my writing app of choice) & Hemingway, but it looks like this version might make that easier. I really like it - looking forward to upgrading my copy!

Thanks for the free upgrade for v1 users. Been using Heminway for a long time to keep my writing simple and understandble enough. I always tend to write in sentences way too long.

I like the look of this app, but given its web roots, I am wondering why it seems to not get the sort of ongoing, fanciful and casual love of tweaks and improvements Ive come to expect in such apps. Give me a reason to use it instead of, say, Scrivener or even Word.

This is perfect for me. I write content for our company blog and it's a pain moving everything into markdown. Being able to easily export to markdown is a good enough reason alone to buy this. Thanks!

I'm so waiting for ProustApp to be released. Opposite sort of product. Turn your short, punchy text into labyrinthine, four-page, single sentence esoteric meanderings...

I just started using Hemingway this week. It's definitely helping me clean up my writing. I've found it fun to gamify copywriting – getting rid of red highlights can be so rewarding :) My only suggestion for improvement would be to give hints to help keep me out of the red...

As I was used to academic writing, it was difficult for me to change my writing to more casual and simple. I did like long sentences and complex constructions but this service helped me to switch to semi-formal style needed for blog posts.

Helps to edit a final version of an essay to make it 'reader-friendly'

@adam_b_long well-done guys. Didn't have the chance to check out the Desktop version but at least for me the web version is a great tool. Combined with Grammarly it a real powerhouse. I would suggest to add some gamification - it could be really cool. (At least it is in my head :) )

I use Hemingway Editor as a gut check for all my creative copy. It's never going to replace real eyeballs on your work, but it's a wonderful first-pass tool. Go ahead. Give your words a spin!

Not always accurate. Won't replace a true copy editor.

This is a slick, well-done app. I recommended to colleagues, and they love it. It's amazing how understated the importance of clear writing can be. I've found people most open to this are often the ones who need it the least...
