Hi 👋 I'm Kai, one of the makers of Hero. I've been selling used stuff on the Internet for years. If I can make a few bucks on an item, I will 🤭
Unfortunately, existing marketplaces have failed to adopt modern UX, AI, mobile, or video from the bottom up.
We have surveyed hundreds of users during the development of Hero, and the feedback has always been the same — tools are not fun to use, and the process of listing stuff is too cumbersome and time-consuming.
That's why, earlier this year, we decided to build an AI-native marketplace that questions all aspects of the selling and buying experience.
The v1 of our vision is to simplify cataloging and listing your old electronics for sale. Point your phone, scan, record, and talk about your item, and Hero will do the rest.
Thanks to everybody who provided early feedback when the app was still rough around the edges. This is the beginning to make the selling and buying experience of used items more enjoyable.

We have a mad strong culture of buying and selling second-hand things and thrift-repurposing basically everything.
We only have one huge player (TradeMe) and this would be the bomb if took off down around here.

When I click the link on your website it goes to a University of Oregon login. Why? And I listed one item and have had zero feedback or response.
Super-excited for this one! Research is the slowest part of clearing our garage of collectibles and books.
If i understand this correctly, your Buyers also have to be on Hero? But they are all on FB and EBay and Gumtree right now - how do THEY know about Hero? Love the concept but you need the buyers?
@peterbwhalley Thanks for the comment. We are actively working on integrations with other sites. As a seller, you shouldn't have to think about where your item sells.
I really like the concept especially because my little sister loves selling stuff online. But it should enable us to sell stuff/make listings on any 3rd party platform (where there are already active audiences) rather than just inside the hero app

Looks like a great idea. Is there any appetite for allowing users to post on FB Marketplace or something like that, where Hero fills the content out and places the video/images there? I understand Hero is looking to be a platform to sell, but until there is a lot of momentum, I think allowing interoperability with other established sales platforms might be beneficial.
@seekrsi Do you mean fake listings? Sellers can not upload any photos or videos. You can only scan items or record a pitch video. This means it's harder to fake any listings.
This is cool! Scanning stuff to sell is way smarter than typing everything out. Gotta try this out and see how fast I can make some cash! 💰
@ihuzaifashoukat Any feedback is appreciated. Are you currently selling on any of the existing marketplaces? What do you like or dislike about them?

Congrats on the launch! What is the rough process of pricing? How can I be sure the price is credible?
@bayazid_malikov Good question. We price against other comparable items based on the condition of the item. We provide a price range. And, of course, you can always overwrite the price when you edit/list your item.
This is really cool! Do you think you might do integration with Shopify products at any point?
@kaigradert I was thinking about something that would actually be able to link to the product pages themselves or allow people to buy the shopify products from the app! Other platforms such as Etsy have such poor reach due to SEO and paid ads, and it's so hard to get products in front of anyone's eyes on these platforms without going wild on SEO, which erases the individuality of my clothing posts, for me.
@kaigradert @maia_buljeta I can feel your pain Maia, but if you're reaching buyers on 2nd hand marketplaces like Hero & others, your prices would have to be low margin/high volume wouldn't they? Otherwise your listings become like paid/sponsored posts in a 2nd hand marketplace (which I usually ignore because I'm looking for something really cheap / repurposed to either save costs or avoid buying new & adding to the consumption problem in the world)
