hi.new let's you secure your email address by adding a layer through which people can easily communicate with you to prevent annoying spam emails. Instead of saying “email me at mailto:xxx@yyy.com”. You can just say “email me here: https://hi.new/yyy”

I'm Dante, maker of Hi.new For a long time, I've always been annoyed at the spam emails I keep getting; it can get really ridiculous. "How How, Why, why, Omg, WT..., 🤦🏽". That's usually my expression with spam emails. Have you ever wondered why some emails end up in your spam folder when they should be in your inbox, while others make it to your inbox but should be in spam? I've felt there should be a solution that bridges this gap, providing a more efficient way to manage your emails. It's not about getting another email address for me personally because it will circle back to the same issues. It's a missing layer on top of your email address. So, over the weekend, we built a simple attempt to address this problem and help you prevent spam while still staying reachable. With over 500 users on the first day alone this has become one of my favorite tools to us.

Love the domain! Great idea, made mine: hey.new/ben
André J
In the age of AI this is so relevant! But I don't get how people can email a URL 😅 And I don't think people get that either? What am I missing?
Dante Lex
@sentry_co You will be able to do way more in the coming day. Test it out and see just how awesome it is already

Great way to solve a big problem! Good luck! Mine: https://hey.new/ai-

Firstly congratulations on the launch of @hey.new as SPAM is such an underrerated area. I have two queries. Q1. How much chance is there that I get a very important email (first timer) spammed due to this guard ? Q2. Are there customizable filters in this SPAM Gaurd ?
Daniel Pirciu
interesting idea, though I couldn't understand much from the website ... the main question is, are you reading/crawling the emails?
Torsten P.
Interesting idea! Have you reinvented the contact form as a means to reduce spam, or am I missing something?
Dante Lex
@to_p it's beyond what a contact form can do. It has all the spam filters you want your email to have. Works with any email provider as a bridge. But there is so much more to come
Joey Jooste
@to_p @dantelex But a contact form does the same thing? Every contact form I've ever used has good spam filters, and it sends it straight to my inbox. Am I missing something or did you just create a contact form?
Dante Lex
@to_p @joeyjooste This doesn't go to your inbox if you don't want it to ☺️ and can be used for several things. Also you can automate to be paid to contact you and more

Hi, the idea is amazing, congratulations on the launch! I just wanted to clarify how it works. So I need to send this link, as I send my email, right? Also, is it possible to attach files?
Dante Lex
@boris_moris44 Yes, you can use this in place of your email for most things. Soon, we will introduce proxies, and you can use that as well. Attach is something we have in the pipeline

Cool tool that https://getinboxzero.com users might enjoy

Congrats on the launch! I'd have used it if the mail address was an actual mail address instead of a URL. Cos most forms have regex to validate email and fail for URLs.
Dante Lex
@ankur_datta2 This is something in works as feature

I've heard of Hey.New, not sure where though but a great way of ensuring you get relevant people to access you and not expose your email to spammers, a probtinhave encountered severally. Congratulations 🎉🎉

Yo, I was wondering what are the privacy issues of such application. Does hey.new has access to all the content from emails sent over it? Where are these data saved? Don't want to be the bitchy person, but it does look like a contact form where some of my messages are filtered by some reading agent.
Dante Lex
@nickolaslago The data is encrypted end to end, so we only store references for it. We use an already trained classification model to know what is what, so the user's data is never used. We've built some great security tools on the market so we do best practices to know how to properly protect users. When we need your permission for things we consider PII, we prompt you and it's totally opt in.

This is great! Spam is something that absolutely needs solving, I really like your approach to this. Excellent work! 👏
Dante Lex
@trent_kennelly Thank you.
Brady Dowling
Now I can finally stop getting annoying spam emails from when I put my email address on Hacker News threads :) This looks awesome!
Dante Lex
@bradydowling Yes this an amazing use case. It's same for me
Tu Han-Hsing
Maybe implement a feature to verify the sender's email address? Without such a verification, it could be easy for someone to impersonate others and send deceptive messages. Moreover, the current design might not effectively prevent common issues like Nigerian spam or more advanced BEC emails, which could pose a significant security risk

@tu_han_hsing If you signed up. Share your username and i'll invite you to community to discuss a bit more
Jim Hershkowitz
Congrats on the launch @dantelex and great to see the traction you are getting! I created my account, simple jim was still available too :) Bit lost what to do from there, maybe create on onboarding (e.g. go here to modify your Linkedin, etc.). Looking forward to using it more. Jim
Dante Lex
@jimhershko We are looking into this. We invite all users to collaborate closely with us in the coming days. Would love you hear more
Riley Peronto
Nice work on this launch. Clarification on how this works: Is the idea that users filter out spam from hey.new, as if it were my new primary inbox?
Dante Lex
@riley_peronto Yes, going forward. It gives you a lot of options. Then we will back to your email services as well
Siran Jiang
I like the simplicity of the interface - beautifully done. :) My question is - what about the use cases that sit in between a big email list and a personal email? So if I wanted to email all my investors, for example, would it be a lot more annoying to have a different workflow to email you due to the friction put in place?
Dante Lex
@siran_jiang We are considering this. We invite all users to collaborate closely with us in the coming days. Would love you hear more
Rabii Bouhestine
I am confused about how this is any different than using a contact form? Like I can just say “email me here: https://mywebsite/contact” instead of “email me here: https://hey.new/yyy
Dante Lex
@rabii_bouhestine, think of if your email was a contact form with an easy link to share with all sorts of superpowers to really control who messages you. You'd be way less worried about spam or your real email getting leaked.
Abdullah Al Faruk
I like this and am excited to use your service. I am really overloaded with lots of spam emails. I believe there is a way to block specific address as well when I do not want to hear from them.
