Glad to see more experimentation with audio/voice. We're seeing it in the workplace with Tandem, Watercooler, Yac, among others. And several on the consumer/social side with Clubhouse, Cappuccino, Storm, etc. I'm curious, what's the most interesting or surprising use case for High Fidelity so far, @philiprosedale?
Philip Rosedale
@rrhoover Thank you! We had an experimental party a couple months ago where about 100 people from NYC who hadn't seen each other since COVID started came together. There were several DJs and musicians playing live, and everyone was very happy and chased each other around in conga lines going between the musicians. Later we all sang "New York, New York" in a big circle. It felt certain this was something that could make people happy.

@rrhoover The virtual events space is going through such an upheaval that we’re seeing some really forward-thinking organizations turning to High Fidelity to fill the void and bring people together in a more natural and enjoyable way than videoconferencing tools can. A couple really cool additional use cases that standout to me are Pride celebrations, academic gatherings, a summer camp, and a "beach party" themed music festival.
Igor Debatur
We've started using Spatial Chat just a few weeks ago, High Fidelity's concept looks very similar, it's interesting to understand the differences if any (except videos mentioned above and maybe screen sharing?). Congrats on the launch!
Emily Iwankovitsch
@igordebatur Thank you, Igor! Other than differences mentioned above in video availability, we currently support 150 people per space. Some of the cool use cases we’ve already seen are large music festivals, graduation ceremonies, listening parties for album releases, Pride celebrations, academic gatherings, summer camps, and more (we're also actively working on scaling to support much, much larger crowds). With our spatialized audio, many of our early users have reported it creates a warm, more natural and immersive experience. Happy to answer any other questions you might have! We hope you'll give it a try and let us know how it goes. Thanks again.
Brandon Uttley
Love it at first sight! Congrats, this is extremely cool.
Emily Iwankovitsch
@brandonuttley Thanks so much, Brandon!

I really like the idea of having a space to walk around, start off with people in a smaller area and instead of having to switch Zoom or WebEx sessions, which is always taking too much time, you could do breakout sessions in the same space – I love it! I believe there's a huge potential and I'm looking forward to see how it evolves! Thanks to @ashleighh and the others also for immediately answering my first questions and welcoming me in the Product Hunt community welcome space! Features I'd like to see: - share your screen so you can present something (maybe even several people at the same time?) - more admin tools (mute all, raise hands, set background image for all without having to change the URL, etc.) - easier setup of streaming music – on Mac it's a real hassle to set it up (e.g. admin could be able to place sound sources/dots through YouTube URLs, which just take the audio) - press shift to "run" ;-) Thanks a lot dear High Fidelity Team!
Alan Zimmerman
@ashleighh @beleevens Thanks for the great feedback and ideas Dom! All great suggestions!
Ashleigh Harris
@beleevens @fazimmerman AGREE! Nice to meet you in High Fidelity!
drew beck
@ashleighh @beleevens That's my list to, plus routing the same audio source to a lot of dots/speakers and/or setting the audio range of a speaker/dot! Love this product thanks
Dominik Bleilevens
@ashleighh @drewbeck as admin you already can change your personal range (e.g. also "to everybody in the whole space"). But yes, would be interesting to have more options here, maybe also for visitors. :)

High Fidelity started out in 2013 hoping that VR hardware would be as ubiquitous as the mobile phone by 2020. Turns out, we’re far from that reality. Our mission from the beginning has been to serve humanity by building technology that helps people be together, in the most natural way possible, from anywhere in the world. So we have spent the last several months optimizing our patented 3D audio technology to work on nearly any device. It’s designed for crowds -- you can hear 3D surround sound of everyone near you and hear others who are in the distance. This new version of High Fidelity is cloud-based and works using a browser. Everyone in your family, all of your friends and colleagues, have a device that should be able to use it. People can use it to connect with each other for a wide variety of reasons — from listening to live music, to family gatherings, hosting parties, networking at conferences, big festivals, political rallies, classrooms, happy hours, or anything else you can dream up.

@philiprosedale Congrats! As a fan of High Fidelity, I'm excited how this will turn out to be 📈 This would catch both accessibility & immersion for everyone - will try for sure!
Philip Rosedale
@robinraszka Thanks Robin - is there a browser-based version of Facemoji?
Jack Denning
@philiprosedale I hope that High Fidelity will be used for BRC this year. It's a totally awesome product.

Dallas Kashuba
I've used this myself, and the experience is unlike anything else. It's more casual and social than video conference tools, and fun too.
Emily Iwankovitsch
@dallas Appreciate your feedback, Dallas! Thank you. Yes -- being able to have water cooler conversations :)
Christian Pasquel
I've been using High Fidelity intensively for the last 4 weeks and it's really a unique experience. The potential is amazing and all people I've invited to my space are impressed. I also enjoy a lot creating new maps. Congratulations!
Emily Iwankovitsch
@geekykidstuff Thank you so much, Christian! It's great to hear that feedback. Would love to see the maps you've created! Tag us on social if you'd like to share (@HighFidelityXR and #hifimap).
Rainer Selvet
Impressive audio quality! Congrats HiFi team!
Alan Zimmerman
@tiivik Thanks Rainer, so great to hear from you!
Almas Abulkhairov
Pretty much like SpatialChat, but without video. Are you guys planning to make videos? What about plans for more people?
Emily Iwankovitsch
@almasabulkhairov Thanks for the questions and feedback! Currently, we support up to 150 people per space. However, we are actively working on scaling to much, much larger crowds. It is currently possible to embed live streams from YouTube or Twitch into an audio space (check out our Knowledge Base for more info). For example, groups hosted watch parties for the recent NASA launch and hung out together while watching on YT live. As for showing videos how SpatialChat does, we’re thinking about it, so thanks for the feedback there. Adding video has pros and cons — it hinders scalability and device accessibility which we feel are important. We want as many people to use our platform as possible on as many devices as possible, even on crappy networks. Many of our early users have reported that they prefer audio to video (Zoom fatigue and whatnot), and that the rich, low-latency 3D audio creates a warm, more natural and immersive experience.
Eduardo
A similar product but in my opinion superior is Remo https://www.producthunt.com/post...
Emily Iwankovitsch
@hombrelobo Hi, Eduardo! Thank you for your feedback. We want as many people to use our platform as possible on as many devices as possible, even on crappy networks! That being said, adding video has its pros and cons. In High Fidelity audio spaces, it is possible to move around with up to 150 people in a single shared interactive space, and people can hear the murmur of conversations with spatialized audio. We hope you’ll give it a try, and thanks again for your comment!
Christianna Haywood
@hombrelobo @hiyaemilyrose I was wondering about that! I’ve done Remo and the video was a nice feature, but it’s missing the ambient audio. I think it might be nice to have cone of silence rooms with video features if desired, which kind of blends the two experiences.
Zac Duff
I love it, the whole team is running around having conversations. I can see this as a replacement for the spontaneous conversations we've lost since working from home. Four things I'd like to see: 1) Walls blocking audio. Makes a lot of sense to go into a room and have conversations outside be quieter. 2) Cone of silence between two or more users. Would also make meetings more discreet. 3) AFK badge. We really want to replace group Slack calls, if we could pop up an AFK badge, it would be perfect. 4) Hook the record player in the party house background up to Spotify 😉
Alan Zimmerman
@zac_duff Thank you for popping in Zac! Those are some great thoughts--don't be surprised if you see some of those making their way into the experience 😉
Piotr Gaczkowski
Do you plan on adding video as well or to keep it audio-only?
Emily Iwankovitsch
@doomhammer Hi there! Thank you for your question, Piotr. We’re thinking about it. Adding video has its pros and cons — it hinders scalability and devices accessibility which we feel are important. We want people even with slow internet networks or older devices to be able to use our platform. Many early users have reported they enjoy the warm, low-latency 3D audio experience and even prefer it to video (Zoom fatigue and all). But I did want to note: it is currently possible to embed live streams from YouTube or Twitch into an audio space. Check out our Knowledge Base for more info!
Piotr Gaczkowski
@hiyaemilyrose thanks for the detailed answer! Putting user experience above everything else is a wise move. And if users prefer smooth and effortless chat than having video, you should definitely go that way. I imagine it to be much lighter on resources and bandwidth as well!
Emily Iwankovitsch
@doomhammer Thank you, Piotr!
Miles Ukaoma ᴏʟʏ
Incredible audio quality! Makes me lament the calls I have scheduled on Zoom or Hangouts.
Emily Iwankovitsch
@milesukaoma Thank you so much, Miles!
Lori Landay
Excellent audio quality.
Emily Iwankovitsch
@loirl Thank you, Lori!
Mark Toner
This is the missing link in online conferencing systems. This is the breakout room and the coffee after the talk. Brilliant.
Emily Iwankovitsch
@mark_toner We're happy to hear that, Mark! Thanks for checking out High Fidelity.
Christianna Haywood
@mark_toner @hiyaemilyrose Can it be used in existing conference software for that purpose? If so, how and which platforms are compatible?
Mark Toner
@hiyaemilyrose @christianna_haywood It doesn't link to anything unfortunately. You would have to set something up yourself.
Cody Rauh
Seem's like Second Life Voice, just with 3D graphics & avatars all stripped out.
