Hey PH, This launch might be a decade late, but after IG jumped the shark a few years ago, it seemed like the right time to try something new... or old? The future seems to be driven by algorithms and artificial intelligence. Every platform is vying for the attention of the masses, using these tools to keep users engaged for longer and extract more data and ad revenue in the process. However, amidst this race to the bottom, Hipstamatic, was a beloved camera app from the early days of mobile photography, now we are making a comeback with a contrarian view of the future of tech. At its core, Hipstamatic is about rediscovering the joy of mobile photography. In the early days of smartphones, the camera was a novel feature, and taking pictures was a fun way to capture moments and share them with friends. But as the industry evolved, social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram turned photography into a commodity, reducing it to likes, followers, and engagement metrics. Hipstamatic aims to change that. With no algorithms, no AI, and no ads, the app is focused solely on the joy of taking and sharing photos with friends. The relaunch features a chronological feed, allowing users to see photos in the order they were posted and eliminating the stress of keeping up with an algorithmically curated feed. Additionally, Hipstamatic is introducing new editing tools and filters, enabling users to create unique and compelling images that stand out in a sea of mundane content. This is not about creating the most polished, professional-looking photos. It's about capturing the moments that matter and sharing them with the people you care about. But why bring back Hipstamatic now, after it faded from popularity over a decade ago? The answer lies in the growing dissatisfaction with the current state of social media. The recent controversies surrounding Facebook and Meta, as well as concerns over data privacy and the addictive nature of technology, have sparked a desire for something different. Hipstamatic represents a return to the roots of mobile photography, a time before algorithms and AI ruled the day. It's a reminder that technology can be used for fun and creativity, not just profit and engagement. The app's member-supported community is proof that there are people out there who still value genuine connections and the simple pleasure of taking and sharing photos. In a world where technology seems to be heading down a dangerous path, Hipstamatic offers a glimmer of hope. It's a reminder that there is still a place for contrarian views and alternative approaches to tech. By rejecting the prevailing wisdom of the industry and focusing on what really matters, Hipstamatic is a beacon of light in a dark and often cynical world. As the app makes its comeback, it's not just about nostalgia for the past. It's about a vision for the future, one that prioritizes authenticity, creativity, and human connection over data-driven algorithms and profit-driven advertising. Hopefully, Hipstamatic is a welcome alternative to the status quo, and a reminder that there's more to tech than just likes and clicks.

This is much needed, Lucas. Future of social media apps would be more about authenticity and creative expression. Rather than attention extracting and broadcasting tools the like of FB / Instagram has become.

Hey y'all! I hope you enjoy the latest iteration of Hipstamatic. This product represents the culmination and confluence of a lot of ideas and tech we've been developing with our small team over the many years we've been building photo products. I hope it gives you many moments of joy and inspires you to take more photos! If you're interested in any of the tech behind how we've used modern tech tools to build even more authentic vintage analog experiences, I've written a few pieces on the subject over the years on Medium. https://medium.com/@dorshorst And don't forget to follow me on https://hipsta.app/@Ryan 🤓

I paid for sweet 12 months of “Hipstamatic X™”already. I LOVE the app. I’m just a little confused: will the new social network that you introduce here be available via the 👉🏼Hipstamatic™ app – or is it Hipstamatic X™?
