Holoframe is a simple web3 app designed for NFT traders and creators. If offers an effortless way to frame individual NFTs or entire collections in augmented reality — and then view them without the need for an app download or a wallet collection.
This is a pretty cool way to "frame" digital art without needing a physical frame or making space in your house. As AR frames and technology become more ingrained in our existing tech, I can see a world where frames become a way to display different collections and change your "current" environment.
Any plan for hardware/glass partners to help integrate a seamless experience into existing products with lenses (like XReal)?
@gabe thank you for hunting our humble AR app, man! really appreciate it 🙂
It's a bit of a tricky question - we don't have any plans to support individual hardware devices, as it's probably (and hopefully) going to be one standard supported by all of them - WebXR.
When Apple announced Vision Pro, the first thing our team searched for was if they'll integrate WebXR, as it's really... Elegant, and robust, easy to understand and play around with, imo. Thankfully, they're working on it, and it will likely work on Apple phones as well! https://mixed-news.com/en/apple-...
Right now, the situation with augmented reality is two options for Android (WebXR, as already mentioned, and SceneViewer by Google), and Apple has QuickLook, which is just adding additional complexity when creating XR apps. We use all of these for Holoframe, depending on the device, and whether it's for individual frames or Showrooms. 👨💻
@gabe@ilijarolovic Congrats on the launch of Holoframe! It's amazing to have a simple web3 app that allows NFT traders and creators to effortlessly frame their NFTs in augmented reality.
Howdy folks! I'm Ilija Rolovic, CEO and co-founder of Holoframe. Before I tell you about what we do, massive thanks to @gabe for hunting us. 🙏
So, Holoframe is a simple web3 app that helps:
🏆 Collectors: Place your NFTs inside 3d frame models, customize them, and then view them in AR. In other words—create holoframes.
🎨 Creators: Make Showrooms, personalized web pages for your NFT community members to simply paste in their NFT ID, and then experience it in augmented reality.
Over the past 6 months, a dedicated community of early adopters helped us improve our invite-only alpha version—and now we're excited to introduce our Open Beta.
You can take it for a spin here: holoframe.io/sign-up
Our Showroom feature, essentially an NFT community engagement tool, has already been embraced by 30+ collections and their holders, from Fun Apes and The Plague, to Nyolings and Moonrunners.
Here's a quick look into our core quirks, nuances, and features:
📱 No app, or wallet connection needed: AR works on any iOS or Android phone via a simple QR code scan, no need to download an app. To create or experience a holoframe or a Showroom, you don't need to connect your wallet.
⚙ Ethereum and Polygon support: Our integration with Ethereum and Polygon is powered by Alchemy API, and we're exploring options for upcoming integrations with Ordinals and Solana.
🖼 Model libraries: We've got four beautiful, minimalistic, clean tabletop frames, with relatively low polygon count, to reduce file size. We plan to release both free and paid model libraries, from retro to scifi-themed.
💎 NFT-gated freemium: Basic features of our app are free, forever. Advanced stuff (e.g. iframes) for collectors and creators will be unlockable with a time-bound NFT; for now, we're monetizing via simple crypto payments.
🌳 Tech tree roadmap: We're toying around with a flexible roadmap, where we can both adapt to market trends, and user feedback, so it's more like a Civ tech tree, than a regular product roadmap. That said, the tree does have branches that are set in stone—we have big plans for the future.
Thank you for checking out our launch! If you have questions, comments, or feedback, feel free to smash your keyboard or tap your phone—my colleagues @aleks_ilic and @djordje_hf , and myself will be here all day, in the digital trenches.

See you in AR, 😉

@ilijarolovic so heavily tailored for NFT market, which has seen a sort of downturn in recent months. What other application is there for it? Just curious if you’re betting on NFTs coming back or if you’re merely positioning for something else.
@gabe_moronta I've been in NFTs since 2017 - ex-CMO of Enjin here, the crew that built ERC-1155 Ethereum standard.
I was bullish from day 1.
I can't think of a major corporation, from Intel to Ubisoft, that doesn't have a web3 strategy, so I'd say it's a pretty safe bet. Imo, NFTs are here to stay.
Next time we might see overwhelming hype again will be a lot different than the first time. The tech is maturing (there's amazing tools and APIs now, e.g. Thirdweb), monetization has vastly changed, and XR/VR glasses and headsets are slowly becoming a thing.
Ofc, crypto in general moves in cycles, and that also obviously impacts things, but I've built in the bear before, having a challenge is fun as heck—and if you manage to build a successful product in the bear, you can go a long way in the bull 🙂
I tried Holoframe app for 2 days time and here is my review.
Feature one: display a single frame with augmented reality (smartphone or tabled needed)
- that's promising, it looks good, frames are customisable, the performance is good and picture is smooth
- one frame is not that interesting
- you cannot have permanent augmented reality and to showcase a frame you need to "put" and "setup" a holoframe
Feature two: showcase a collection.
- to use this feature you need a link collection from opensea and I am not an opensea user and it is not opening for me right now (just use Magic Eden ;)) so I was not able to test this feature
- it would be great if more marketplace will be supported
What features will make this app amazing (subjective opinion):
- ability to put holoframes on a wall (I got assured it will be available soonish)
- permanent augmented reality
- Solana blockchain support, a lot of amazing collections there I got assured it is coming soon, yay!)
- BNB support, there a community of photographers there
@magic_dima both thank you so much! :) both are on the roadmap - we've already did a successful test for both Ordinals and Solana, just need to decide on which API to use, tbh. Wall placement is also coming in the next month or two!
Have you thought about engaging just a general audience, who are not collectors or creators? I think it could be a challenge.
What is the main problem you're solving for creators/collectors?
@laocool we're mostly focusing on PFPs and a bit on art NFTs for now, gaming is next. Down the line, web2 companies looking to get into web3 (e.g. retail) is where we'll go with enterprise-level solutions.
For collectors, we're basically solving display and flexing - the rest of the ways to do it are kinda clunky and not super-techy or cool. Traders also used it to get a bit of additional eyes on their NFTs for sale, when they link them on Discord channels.
For creators, Holoframe is essentially an instant utility (simple, but effective) and a community engagement tool, really useful when combined with giveaways/raffles.
