The Hooke Verse is for me the best product I ever bought. It’s like VR for the blind. Even though I have a great sight I live a very sound based life and I love sharing my ambient soundscapes with people living on the other side of the globe. Hi all - real review from a real user here. Been traveling with these headphones all over the world for more than a year, paid full retail for them. The sound quality is incredible. Every time I show a recording to someone, they end up looking over their shoulder thinking something is there - the spatial quality of the sound is like you're there. The main downside is the app is a work in progress. The video is a bit jumpy and the re-pairing process after every recording is a real bummer. But I've found with the long battery life I just let it roll as I'm at a concert or walking through somewhere sonically interesting. I do hope they fix the video issues - I know it's on their radar and it'll get ironed out soon. In the end it's about the sound and the sound is incredible!

Apart from the high spec recording audio quality, the app and integration with the mobile phone makes it an easy to use product for everyone. Cannot recommend it enough for those that want to make the best our of their recordings!

Gives your phone or DSLR the ability of recording, real, binaural 3D sound.

Cons:

I cannot think of any!

I backed it on kickstarter, and it's one of the few hardware kickstarter projects I don't regret backing.

Pros:

The Hooke makes it really easy to record good quality binaural ("3D") sound to any external recorder with a stereo mini jack input.

Cons:

The Hooke app, at least on android, isn't very good - it's unreliable and unintuitive.

A even more high end solution for studio recording would have been a nice alternative too.

Pros:

Comfy to wear, good sound quality, good battery, 3d-recording!, doesn't fall off while running. My Kickstarter set got stolen –now rebuying!

Cons:

In the start, the app did have some problems. Lately it has been much more stable.

I’d recommend checking out some of the Hooke Verse recordings made on YouTube *with your headphones in to get the effect*. It’s not the same as when you can demo them in person and experience the real life sounds-to-Hooke Verse recording comparison, but you’ll get the feeling of these recordings. For those, search for the Hooke Audio channel on YouTube.

The recordings are AMAZING. Charge lasts a ridiculously long time, and the hard case is excellent. I use these as my only iPhone headphones.

Cons:

For what it’s meant to be the Hooke Verse gets all the stars! That said, when using as my daily phone headphones, sometimes it disconnects.

Makes concert recordings in your phone 100x better. Also great for asmr

If you haven’t tried the product you can’t even begin to imagine all the opportunities in audio you are missing.

I use them everyday on my commute. It allows me to make quick videos of what I see and hear, not what a single microphone hears. I Love it!

Like many BT enabled devices it picks up interference, especially on a busy NYC street.

You may THINK you have great headphones, but you must at least try out Hooke!

This is a great tool for chronicling adventures outdoors. I sometimes find myself in wet environments during my travels (e.g. rain, snorkeling, canoeing, etc.) - is the Verse rated IPX7 or IPX8?

Hooke Verse easy to sync with both iPhone and Samsung phones. Used both.

Great for recording music venues and any important event where you want surround sound. Recorded friends band that he then used to get gigs.
