@livejamie We actually started out building by building data-driven guides about when to fly and buy. You can check it out here: http://www.hopper.com/reports.
We are focused on mobile though because the real-time notifications are a critical component of the product. We wanted to take all the work out of the flight shopping process by doing all the comparison shopping for you and notifying you when we find a great fare. With our new QuickTap Booking feature, it's super fast and easy to book from your phone.
I've been using this for several months and have recommended it widely.
One fun use case I've found is to set several theoretical trips during the same time period: Tokyo, Bankgkok, Marrakech, Berlin (in my case) and then get push notified as new prices pop up.
The interface is clean and they only push when they have real new info for you.
@fredlalonde Glad to hear it - one idea I wish Hopper could build: pick a time range and have Hopper send me deals from my home airport during that range.
Sometimes I don't know where I'd like to go, but I'd like to know what the most unusual deals are during that period.
@aaronlammer We have a web tool called the Flight Explorer that addresses this: http://hopper.com/flights/feed. We're working on designing something similar for the app.
@lalo We receive, from several Global Distribution System (GDS) partners, real-time “shadow traffic” containing the results of consumer airfare searches happening across the web. Unfortunately, AA is not sharing flight data with us, so we are unable to offer their flights at this time. We're constantly improving our data coverage and hope to offer them soon.
Seeing more and more of these types of apps and websites getting more exposure. I currently use Hitlist, which was featured in the App Store a couple of weeks ago. Will definitely give Hopper 2.0 a try.
Hopper helped me save about $700 on a flight to London in October in a deal that I otherwise would have missed. I'm VERY impressed! One thing I'd love to see is the ability to get alerted on one-way flights.
@kristapslazda thanks for the feedback! We found that two out of three flights will drop before departure which is why we incorporated the price prediction and price monitoring features. If you received a buy recommendation and found better prices elsewhere, definitely let us know your route and dates so we can look into it.
Hi! With this new iOS update, you'll be able to book your flights directly in the app with just a few taps. It takes about 10 seconds. We also introduced our Android app. Would love to get feedback and I'm happy to answer any questions.
The simple and easy-using booking user flow shocked me! Are you cooperating with OTAs to issue the flight tickets? As far as I know, Different OTAs may provide different prices for the same itinerary, but your price watching is based on all the data in GDS, does that mean you have cooperated with most of OTAs?
I believe that this will be a great addition to the routes.
We design routes from point A to point A around Europe and call it A-to-A trips, to keep it short
