๐Ÿ‘‹ Hi PH fam! I'm Liyas, founder, and CEO of Hoppscotch โ€” the most loved API platform by the open-source community with over 54,000+ GitHub stars and thousands of members in our community channels. When I set out to build Hoppscotch a couple of years ago, we started out with an API testing tool that gave developers insight into basic API testing functionalities. Weโ€™ve now grown the product into an API development *suite*, servicing thousands of companies and millions of developers. If youโ€™re a dev, you already know how tedious it can be to build APIs across dev, testing, and QA teams. Especially developing and testing APIs with sensitive data like auth tokens, private endpoints, and team environments. Enter Hoppscotch Self-Host: A new API tool companies can self-host on-prem, with SAML-based SSO, audit logs, and an admin dashboard to manage teams & users. Collaboratively build, test, and share APIs with teams in real-time. Self-managed hosting and deployment so you can deploy in your own data center or cloud capacity. Get unlimited teams, workspaces, API collections, environments, and requests. Hoppscotch Self-Host is the one-stop solution to own control over your APIs, data, and privacy. I tried signing up. But says email invalid during confirmation from email link.

@wilsonbright Sorry this happened. Can you create an issue on our GitHub repo to better understand this issue and fix it asap. https://github.com/hoppscotch/ho...

I want to love this, but assuming that I was dumb (maybe I am) I have no idea of what this does. I see a tendency to cater to super micro competent leads, lately. Let's just say I'm a founder (I am) with no experience about what you're offering (I'm not that person): you're gonna miss an opportunity. Please, please, please never assume your audience knows what you're taling about. Yes, you are talking to developers, but sometimes developers need a founder to get to know you. You're "homepage" is Gibbrish to many. I'm rating 5 stars and supporting because it makes sense to me, but this trend of unflexible communication has to come to an end: tell "stupid" how they can benefit from your product/service for their business. If you don't, it's your miss.
Liyas Thomas
@fabiosalvadori Iโ€™ll try my best to explain what we do at Hoppscotch in a brief; Nowadays, most software development follows an API-first approach. APIs are a set of rules and protocols defined for software-to-software communications. Hoppscotch is a software that helps developers, testers, and engineers to build, test, and share APIs with teams in real-time. Hoppscotch is widely adopted in the development community due to its open-source nature. Today weโ€™re launching Hoppscotch self-host that allows users to deploy the platform on-premise and secure 100% data privacy.

Congrats @liyasthomas & team!! โœจ Happy to see hoppscotch developing that fast :) I have a few questions: - How does the on-premise version of Hoppscotch Self-Host ensure data security and privacy? Are there any specific measures in place to protect sensitive information? - Can you elaborate on the differences between the community and enterprise editions? - As an open-source project (I'm working at https://inlang.com), how can make the most out of hoppscotch self-hosted?
Liyas Thomas
@felixhaberle, we completely understand your concerns. 1. Hoppscotch uses encryption protocols like HTTPS to secure data in transit between the client and the server. This ensures that API requests and responses are transmitted securely. 2. Self-hosted editions implement strong access control measures. Only authorized personnel should have access to the server and the Hoppscotch application. 3. If Hoppscotch is configured to store data locally (e.g., hosted in a local network), the data is stored securely in the browser's local storage. No data ever leaves your machine. 4. Hoppscotch's core services are open-sourced under an MIT License. The source code is audited and battle-tested by the community. 5. We recommend keeping Hoppscotch up to date by monitoring for updates and applying them as they become available. Updates may include timely bug fixes and security improvements. -- Community and Enterprise editions Community editions are tailored for individual developers, testers, and small-scale companies to get started with API testing whereas the enterprise edition is for companies to level up their API testing suite. Enterprise edition has out-of-the-box integrations with other enterprise software, such as single sign-on (SSO) solutions and audit logs. Enterprise edition has a commercial licensing model with subscription-based pricing structures tailored to business needs. -- Hoppscotch is an open-source project from day one. The best support we get is contributions to our core services on our GitHub repository (https://github.com/hoppscotch/ho...). Feel free to checkout our GitHub repository to install the community edition. Hope I answer your questions, thanks for the feedback.

Self-hosted solutions are becoming increasingly important for data security. Could you share some insights into what motivated you to develop the self-hosted versions of Hoppscotch?
Liyas Thomas
@ricardo_luz Self-hosting allows organizations to have full control over their data. This can be crucial for sensitive information that needs to be protected from potential breaches or unauthorized access. APIs hold very sensitive data like authentication tokens, private endpoints, team environments, etc. Moreover, certain industries or organizations may have specific regulatory requirements that dictate where data can be stored and how it should be handled. Self-hosting provides more control over compliance measures. Above all, the self-host edition request and feedback came from hundreds of members of our community ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿ’ก Bright idea
Wow, this is an amazing addition to the Hoppscotch ecosystem! I've been a big fan of Hoppscotch for a while now, and the idea of having a self-hosted option is truly exciting. I have a couple of questions about the Hoppscotch Self-Host: 1. Is there any specific server or infrastructure requirement needed to set up the self-hosted version? I'm curious to know if there are any compatibility concerns or if it can be easily deployed on any standard hosting environment. 2. Are there any plans to integrate Hoppscotch Self-Host with other popular API management tools or frameworks such as Swagger or Postman? It would be great to have seamless interoperability between different platforms. Once again, congratulations on this fantastic release! I look forward to hearing more about the options and potential use cases for Hoppscotch Self-Host. Keep up the great work!
Liyas Thomas
@alex_kachalov Thank you for your kind words ๐Ÿฉต 1. Hoppscotch Self-Host editions can be deployed on any standard hosting environment. To learn more about the prerequisite please read our self-hosting documentation: https://docs.hoppscotch.io/docum... 2. We do have an exciting roadmap aligned for the Hoppscotch On-Prem Enterprise Edition. Cloud integrations, usage insights, activity logs, enterprise plugins, etc. are a few of them. Follow us on Product Hunt to get notified of upcoming launches. I've written more about Enterprise Self-Host edition on ๐•: https://twitter.com/liyasthomas/...

Congratulations @liyasthomas for the launch! A big fan of Hoppscotch - Product & the team. What made you decide to build the on-prem version? Did it come from the user? Also, I remember that you used Firebase so how did that work out?
Liyas Thomas
@sachinjain024 Yes!. The โ€œEnterprise Editionโ€ request came from community feedback. I've wrote about this on ๐•: https://twitter.com/liyasthomas/... Hoppscotch Self-Host editions don't use any 3rd-party services. It's 100% on-prem and ensures complete Data Privacy and Content Security Policy (CSP).
