I always wanted to visualize how much of the world I visited, now I can: the support different color palettes and social sharing to let everyone know how much you love traveling in your own way!
Chunking the US into one big country, and other regions same was a bit less interesting. Case in point clicking on Taiwan shows you visiting "China" - itself a huge place with 7 major languages and 56 different ethnicities. This works well as it gets more granular, like St. Maartin French vs Dutch. That said anyone who gets anything done in this world gets a gold star, so kudos to the team in any case.
@jonmmiles Thanks for the feedback, I was thinking about doing something similar but the main issues is to find a coherent way to decide which countries to split into smaller units
@samueledassatti I think the US 50 states, Russia major regions, China, and India same would get you a long way there. But like I said, this is great and anything else is gravy.
@furkankadioglu Thanks for the observation: the boundaries of continents vary a lot depending on who you ask, I chose these ones because they are the ones most people seem to agree on but I could change if I get enough feedback pointing to this
I love the mapping applications that are coming out, I've been playing with Felt by @laurenbaxter this week, and I love the speed and simplicity of this one.
I must say that I would much rather have a custom link than the share buttons in the top right. ('Copy this link to share with your friends') It seems like it would be a quick add since data is all stored in the URL already. (I'm just a big hater of the Social media buttons due to terrible UX in the past.)
Congrats on the launch!
