Breaking Into Startups: Episode 14 - Chia Lin; Michelin Star Pastry Chef turned Product Designer — Proof that you can break into tech from any background
In a Michelin Star kitchen, you’re expected to crush it, day in and day out.
We met Chia Lin after Nick DeWilde told us about this amazing article she wrote about how she went from being a Pastry Chef to being a Product Designer.

Working in the kitchen taught her to appreciate the people that we often take for granted making the food. Not just the Chef.
It's very similar to Silicon Valley and the media's obsession with Founders and Venture Capitalists. People think Mark Zuckerberg singlehandedly built Facebook, but there are thousands of unsung heroes (employees) that create these high growth organizations.
On this episode, Chia covers why you should never be ashamed to work at a restaurant, humility, discipline, assumptions, why good design is invisible, internalizing satisfaction, her experience TradeCraft and how her love of food, led her to become the Designer she is today.

Her story made me think of our friend Kat Fang, the Food Network's Chopped Champion, and if any of you are passionate about food / design, this episode is for you.
