Hey everyone, here's the latest newsletter from Inside.com... [ INSIDE VR & AR ]
I'll be here answering any questions you might have about Inside.com, startups, life, etc. -- ask me anything!
Also, we're giving away an Oculus Rift – enter to win here: http://contest.inside.com/giveaw...
@shilorune We are experimenting with text and animated gif-based ads in the newsletters. LAUNCH Ticker has ~$100k from ~1,000 paid subscribers a year as well as $5k a week in ad inventory (or $250k a year if we sold out). I think we can sell half the inventory so, it's a $200-250k a year product, which means it will break even with two or three full-time folks. If we can hit 10,000 subs on a vertical newsletter we can make it into a small business. We need 100 of them to make it big business!
@danflopes For EV, we have Inside Tesla (which covers tons of EV stuff): http://tesla.inside.com
For AI and Drones, ping me if you want to be in the private betas as we roll those ones out: a@inside.com
Thank you for sharing this. That's what I was looking for long time. One more thing, Link for "We're giving away a free Oculus Rift! Click here to enter." is not working.
Love what @jason has been doing. Been on the Ticker for a couple of years now and it (along w/ Product Hunt & a few others) are on my early morning must-read list. I used to get up around 7, but thanks to Jason and the Product Hunt folks, it's 5:30am, just so I can get a good 1 1/2hr in before work. Funny story, just became a Tesla owner - all because of Jason. I remember getting one of his emails talking about how much he loves his Tesla. The part that pulled me in was when he likened the software upgrades to getting a new car every few months (horribly paraphrased, but something like that).
@jason & @awwstn. Love what you're doing here with the inside network and stoked to see the VR vertical.
I just added VRAR to Letterlist (http://app.letterlist.com/letter...).
Would you mind sharing your headcount so I can provide accurate subscriber #s.
@marceglon@awwstn I think we have 2k subs right now.... Inside.com has 25k, LAUNCH Ticker is 26k and Inside Tesla (soon to be rebranded as Inside EVs) has like 6k.
Is the newsletter going to be limited to Oculus Rift and Samung VR? As an HTC Vive user, when you open the site and read "Do you own an Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR?" it does feel pretty exclusive for any other platforms. As a potential subscriber, I would love to feel part of "it" ;)
Perfect timing. Right now VR and AR news is pretty decentralized. I have to visit 3-4 different sites throughout the week to stay up to date. 👾
Here is their latest issue: http://us1.campaign-archive2.com...
@jason Newsletter is looking good. Great job so far. What are your thoughts on HoloLens? Do you think the use cases are more appropriate for businesses or will it be relevant to consumers as well?
@jason: This hits the sweet spot for me, congrats on what I'm sure will be a great newsletter. Q: Which applications or focuses of new vr/ar companies are you most intrigued by (investment-wise)?
@tweetsbyilia i'm really interested in VR/AR experiences in the educational space. I think learning how to play golf or do brain surgery without losing balls or killing people is going to be the next frontier!
Thanks for launching another inside newsletter. The Launch Ticker and Inside daily brief are reque cy of the Tesla newsletter is just right.
Can't wait to try another one and to have all my news pushed to my email!
@ovinegrean the Tesla newsletter is twice a week. It's the right amount to keep each message filled with content. Although I can't find how often this will be sent out.
@justingough@ovinegrean This one is 2x/week right now. There's TONS of news in VR/AR, so maybe sooner or later we'll up it to 3x (or 2x + occasional breaking news)
Hi @jason , I've subscribed to it :-) Looking forward to VR & AR insights delivers straight to the mind!
Meanwhile you might like checking out another AR category top performer on Product Hunt called PeakVisor :-) Taken into account your regular hikes with the daughter you might personally use it every time ;-)
Very nice, and I'm signed up :) I've also been sending out a weekly list of curated links to topics I find interesting, which you can find here: http://tinyletter.com/vrweekly
