iPhone 8 is Apple's newest phone, with a faster processor & louder speakers.

Phone is consisent, dependable, and gets the job done in a simple way that Apple is so well known for. My only nitpick is that it didn't come in the 128GB model, so I had to go with 256, and have no need for that much space.

Pros:

Solid, dependable, gets the job done at a reasonable price.

Cons:

Not as sexy as the X, nor a major upgrade over previous models.

It honestly looks really good. I love the glass design change.

Fanboys have moved on... comical.

Naming could also be a multiyear thing. Next year, one has to consider the 8s and Xs. If they went with the 7s name, and the 8 used the the same design as the 7s that would be a break of naming purpose. Likely 8 was chosen as next year’s design will follow this year. It will probably be 2020 when the X design is the only new model as it can become more affordable. Personally, until they bring out apple pencil or 360 video, there is no *need* for me to upgrade from the iPhone 6S series

I have read several outlets saying the battery life of the 8/8+ is improved over the 7/7+ but it looks like official word from Apple is that it's just the "same great battery life"? That's a disappointment in my book. If they're not improving battery life year over year, what the hell are we even doing?

@ryanstraits I believe what "we're doing" is adding functionality. So to add functionality and keep the same battery life is still an accomplishment.

I think the move to the naming 8 rather than 7s was, outside of the fact that it didn’t follow traditional ‘s’ standards in keeping same housing, was a marketing move to improve sales of a new phone next to an X model. Not to confuse those less engrained in tech culture who might have heard of an iPhone 7 already so an iPhone 7s may have gone under their radar alongside an obviously newly named X model.

They should have just skipped this one and offered the iPhone X as the new update and made it more affordable. It would have made more sense. This boring ass design of the iphone 8 is something we've seen for 3 years now.
