JSON Hero Chrome extension — A beautiful JSON explorer packed with features
The new JSON Hero Chrome extension lets you easily use JSON Hero from Chrome for plain JSON blobs. Or extract and open Firestore documents, Github files, and Open Graph metadata. And since JSON Hero is open source, you can even point to your own instance.

@milla_eane Thanks! Using the Chrome extension settings, there is a field for entering your Custom Server URL. So if you were running locally following our local development guide (https://github.com/jsonhero-io/j...) you would set the URL to `http://localhost:8787`

My name is Eric Allam and I'm one of the creators of JSON Hero, an open source JSON explorer packed with features. I'm a software developer, and have recently been doing a lot of work shuffling JSON back and forth (don't we all!) and got frustrated with the current state of tools around reading JSON documents, especially deeply nested ones.
Me and a few friends built and launched JSONHero.io a little under 2 months ago, and so far the reception has been great! We've racked up 3.3k stars on Github and had over 30k visitors. It's been nice to see the response from the community as well.
One of the most requested features from the get-go has been to bring JSON Hero to a Chrome extension, and today we're happy to finally share it with this great community. Please let us know what you think and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
That's a very nice tool! I'm adding it to my toolbox :)
If I may suggest one additional feature: sometimes it would be useful to select JSON text on a website, right click and open the selection with the extension.
Nice idea making this an extension! I’ve been using the basic json chrome extension that just does formatting for years, so it’ll be an easy switch to this.
