The Keychron K8 is a versatile wireless mechanical keyboard engineered to maximize your productivity, with the most popular tenkeyless layout among keyboards. Available with Gateron or Optical switch.
I can't speak for this model but I have another Keychron keyboard and it gives me mixed feelings. Some things are great, others a bit flawed. Main gripes is a tiny balance issue, I have to keep a piece of paper under one corner or the unit or rocks on my desk as I type. Some key spacing is weird too, like that enter key being only across one row really messes me up and I often hit enter when typing an apostrophe. Reconnecting via bluetooth is quite slow as well as the keyboard disconnects shortly after being used even while plugged into a charger. Had it less than a year and the S, E and D keys are wearing off.
That said the overall feel is good so I imagine this has the potential to be good. Love having a dedicated dictation key for my Mac when good Mac keyboards are hard to come by.
@slyfirefox For the wobble and key issue, you can DM the team with a video to show the issue on FB and see if they can help, also the enter key issue. For the layout, mostly will get used of it after a certain while. Thanks for supporting us.
@miguelsham1 ok thanks, I'll contact your facebook team about those issues. I'll be honest, I thought the layout would be ok but it still bothers me. I understand most probably are fine with it, I just hate slipping and sending messages prematurely when going for the ' key.
I've been looking for a universal Mac/PC compatible mechanical keyboard for a while and even purchased K1 V3 (waiting for it to arrive) as an alternative for the Magic Keyboard.
However, there were a few points that prevented me from buying K2/K6 instead:
* thick metal bezel: cleaning is harder and the look is cheap (IMO)
* excessive height, although that's true for many mechanical keyboards
* USB port location
* numerous complains on echo/sound
* battery life
I love the feature set and TKL layout, but decided to try Drop Ctrl instead.
P.S.: Congrats on the release.
@tarasbrizitsky Thanks for supporting us.
- For the bezels, you can remove to clean it with a screwdriver.
- For the height, the K6 and K8 and coming Keychron keyboard won’t be so high like the current K2, its up to the industry standard now, our user shown a photo by comparing the K6 to the Ducky One in terms of height (https://drive.google.com/file/d/...), also, FYI a photo for the height of K2 vs K8
https://drive.google.com/file/d/...
- For the USB port, thanks for your suggestion, will let the team know and think about it.
- For the echo, you can refer to this video to see if this works to reduce the sound: https://youtu.be/fvJ4AXRmWt4
- Battery life, 4000mAh battery is one of the biggest being use in mech kb, it has 70 hours life with a single charge, but we will definitely see if the team can further optimize this.
Hope this helps.
@miguelsham1 thanks, the screwdriver "option" is inelegant, but ok.
A few suggestions for future product updates (it's very personal, I know):
- Mac-first, low-profile keyboard with Fn on the left
- PBT keycaps for K1
- QMK support
I have a Keychron K6 and love it. The flexibility of USB-C and Bluetooth all in one keyboard is nice.
If you’re wanting something for gaming, I’d choose this because of the more traditional distance to the function keys. That has taken a lot of getting use to for me going from a Razer BlackWidow to a K6.
@yuzumetrix Hi, we don't have slient version now, but you may take this video for reference to see a user how to lower the sound with a foam: https://youtu.be/fvJ4AXRmWt4
@miguelsham1 Thank you. Fair enough, it is probably too much of an expectation to have a mechanical keyboard silent. I love the product tho, so good luck!
@yuzumetrix The foam mod definitely helps silence this keyboard. My fiance was complaining how loud my keyboard was before and now she doesnt mind the sound of the keyboard. Got rid of the annoying pinging sound.
Absolutely love their keyboards!
Easily the best thing I noticed when moving from using the keyboard on my Macbook Pro to my keychron keyboard was that there 0 readjustment to the layout and positioning of the keys which is what I was fearful about when purchasing a keyboard for my Macbook.
I have actually already ordered this one as I don't have one spare in case something ever happens my first one (had for over a year now)
Spanish layout please! There is a huge hole in the Spanish layout keyboard market where there is no TKL format mechanical keyboards. Hoping for someone to fill that gap and take the market for themselves.
It seems a very good keyboard, but I cannot recommend it until I have good ergonomics. The keyboard is too high so it is not good for the wrists. Having to use a wrist rest in 2020 does not make sense to me. I want my desk with as few objects as possible and the base of the keyboard seems to have scope to decrease the height of the keyboard. When they get better I definitely recommend it.
Dont WASTE your time and money for this crappy product !!! I have made my order for the previous version (K6) since April 8th and right now the parcel still not arrived yet . 60 days of nothing , many users also report a glitch for double - triple typing. HYPE something else.
@keychronstealmymoney Hi, most of the K6 Kickstarter and website preorder has been shipped, could you please DM your order number and email on Facebook for further check, sorry for the delay.
@miguelsham1 The email said the parcel might be lost in Shenzhen . I need refund to my paypal account Immediately. Give back my money and i'll forgot this cursed customer service and overrated branding.
