Currently Klarna is in a bunch of countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK) and the US is launching this upcoming year.
Simple idea, good execution... They essentially extend short-term credit for consumers in real time and allow them to pay after they receive the goods using a variety of different payment methods. This allows for a very quick and seamless checkout process which boosts both mobile and desktop conversion rates.
Also added to my payments collection at http://www.producthunt.com/ffuma...@yuvalsamet is on Product Hunt and is the Chief Product Officer.
@ffumarola Frank, thanks for the mention. In addition to the consumer benefits from a more friction free buying experience Klarna takes the merchant's risk out of the transaction. Klarna checks for fraud in real time and assumes the risk so the merchant doesn't have to worry about it.
@mrluketuttle Luke, thanks for joining the conversation and mentioning the merchant benefits. Allowing the customer to buy now and pay later with 0 risk to your business' bottom line is obviously a huge perk on the merchant side, too!
@mrluketuttle - I think you guys should work on developing a virtual card that adds to your Apple or Samsung Pay. So instead of several different card payments you have one major one that you can split over bi-weekly or monthly payments. You can still give users the option to make multiple cards and have multiple payments.
@mrluketuttle - There also really should be a way you can see what your limit is. Or get a better understanding of when an account goes from eligible to ineligible before creating the card.
Klarna is great but they don't have features i'm interedted in. In particulat small amount of payment gateways is a big issue to me. I usually use Tap2Pay cause they've got plenty of them. You can check it out by yourself click the link if you're interestedhttps://secure.tap2pay.me/mercha...
EDIT: review of klarna app
Might be OK if you're a retailer to try and get new customers and provide an alternative payment method, but it is a seriously broken consumer app, or needs a LOT of work. it's a nice UI and app, but is tremendously slow when viewing a product. Product was 30% more expensive after actually landing on the item, and the only interesting item I found was out of stock.
Until Klarna app can communicate with the retailer about stock availability and/or remove unavailable products, it is just a web browser for browsing the actual retailer. It is a cool idea, but very bad execution IMHO.
I thought I was cranky when I first uninstalled the app, but I slept on it and still feel like it was a really lousy experience overall.
