Kubera helps you track your net worth and store important documents in one place. It also ensures safe transfer of this critical information to your beneficiary if something unexpected happens to you.
It could be great if Yodlee could also be offered as an alternative to Plaid for some accounts.
I love the UX of Plaid, but unfortunately it doesn't support many accounts that Yodlee does.
e.g. Plaid doesn't support Fidelity accoutns if you use 2FA at Fidelity.
@deep It should work. I have citibank, icici and sbi connected. Others in the team have HDFC. It's a bit flaky I agree. We are talking to more service providers. Maybe give it a day and try again. Let us know hello@kubera.com. Thank you.
Great work guys! Just curious, does encryption happen client-side with a password-derived key to ensure the data is unusable should there be an issue with Kubera's server/DBs?
The application looks really cool. However, it doesn't seem to be ready to be a paid application yet. For example, I couldn't find options to connect my AXIS and HSBC accounts (India). The other 3 accounts worked fine though, for now. Also, a bunch of Indian folks have accounts in public sector banks as well. I am guessing automatically updating numbers for those accounts will be a pipe dream.
Nevertheless, 1 USP of Kubera, for me, is support for multiple currencies at the same time. I have used many budgeting/asset tracking software in the past, but the lack of support for multiple currencies have been a bummer.
Wish you all the best guys!
@shayonpal Hey Shayon how are you? To connect to Indian banks, click on the globe icon - on the Connect Account option. For Indian users, the default option will be the Indian service provider. Try and let me know. Thank you.
@ooomz Hey man, it's great to check out another app that you and @rohitkubera have worked on.
Well, I'm in Canada these days, so my default location was that. I have accounts with 2 Canadian banks, and both worked great. When I clicked on the Globe icon and searched to add my HSBC & AXIS Cards, I couldn't find them. These are the only options I got - https://imgur.com/a/750klWE
1 more feedback. I had accidentally added my HDFC Savings account in the 'Investments' sheet, whereas I wanted to add it under a custom 'Savings' sheet. I thought I could move the record between the sheets using the handlebars but looks like that isn't supported yet. I had to delete the record (actually, the bank connection) and add it again in the other sheet.
@shayonpal Yeah moving across sheets is not supported right now. It's in todo. Sorry or that.
Please give one more shot at search. Try searching HSBC India, and Axis Bank India
@shayonpal Got it. Looks like you are trying to connect from 'Debts'. These banks may not be supporting Credit Card and Loan accounts right now. It'll work when you try from 'Assets' to connect your savings account. Not sure if you wanted to do that. Btw you can talk to us using the Chat widget in the app. Thank you.
Really great idea, will be looking out for when you have a european connection! Left some comments on your landing page here too in context incase its useful - https://app.usebubbles.com/6ed1a...
Hi @rohitkubera , I've been using IndWealth for tracking assets for a while. It doesn't track bitcoin, physical assets but does the rest well. Moreover, it's free and runs no ads either. Would you please do a quick value/feature comparison to help us understand if Kubera is a better alternative?
@rohitkubera@arun_pattnaik Hi Arun, what we understood after using IndWealth is that they are an online investment algo/personal advisor/broker company with a nice tool to track the investments you do there. If you enter everything and pay them, they will tell tell you what more to do. Like you said, IndWealth does not deal with assets that they dont help you invest in. I can't say if Kubera is better than IndWealth. You probably need them to do your investments. Kubera is a light weight tool to aggregate all your scattered investments, assets, debts, related documents etc in one place and track them in one place. You may actually have your money and investments in Banks, Zerodha, Indwealth etc.
@rohitkubera@ooomz Thank you for the reply. I don't use their advisory services so it's free. I think having bitcoin tracking is a great option. What I do not like is how they mix bonds & GSecs with the day trading stocks which messes up with the tracking, but I think that's Zerodha's fault. I'll take a trial :) Do you plan to have a mobile app in future?
👋 Hey PH! I am Rohit, Founder of Kubera (https://kubera.com). Thank you @kevin for hunting us.
First, a bit of a personal story:
A couple of years ago, in a random event, I was caught in a rip tide in Costa Rica 🏖️ and had to be rescued. After heading back home, the first thing I did was list all my assets in Google Sheets and share with my wife. The list I put together started to look interesting.
The different types of assets & their custodians were not as simple as I thought it to be. It was no longer just real estate, stocks and bonds. Assets like collectibles, precious metals, private investments, crypto, domain names, trademarks, and other digital assets filled up the list.
After putting together the sheet, I wanted a bunch of features like automatic updates of values wherever possible and a better way to share with my family 👪. I could share my Google sheet with my wife but I was pretty sure that she would forget about it when it’s time for her to take control. I wanted a sharing feature better suited for this particular task. Something that I can set today that would let my family get access to the critical info, in the future if something happens to me. I called it - “Share, but not yet.”
I checked out existing solutions that aggregated bank accounts, credit cards, investments etc; but found them to be clunky, constantly spying & judging. They have features that are not relevant to me. They assumed I was looking for budgeting.
During this time I reached out to my ex-colleagues @manojmarathayil and @ooomz. It turned out that they also maintained a similar spreadsheet. A lot of people we then spoke to either did nothing or listed everything in a spreadsheet just like us. It looked like an itch we all wanted to scratch and something that will be extremely useful for others.
So we rolled up our sleeves and started building something and called it Kubera - the lord of wealth :)
We built Kubera to achieve the following:
➡ List your assets, traditional and non-traditional, in a simple spreadsheet form.
➡ Fetch current asset values automatically whenever possible.
➡ Support for multiple currencies and crypto (https://www.kubera.com/blog/port...).
➡ A document vault to store important documents.
➡ Ensure safe transfer of the critical info to your beneficiary, if something happens to you.
➡ Most importantly Kubera has no ads. It does not spy on you or sell your data. Just a clean subscription model.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
