Larabiz is a French community for Laravel developers.
It provides quality articles, help in the comments section, a soon-to-be-launched forum, a newsletter, and a vibrant Twitter presence with regular lives.
It's been almost a year since I launched Larabiz. I rebuilt it from the ground up to be a community instead of a jobs board. After I launched it, It's been hard to keep the motivation up, and I had to learn how to perform on social media and search engines to make any progress.
Now, things are starting to get much better:
- I get ~5K pageviews per month thanks to the blog; ✅
- More than 120 subscribers to the newsletter; ✅
- And people are starting to create accounts despite the forum not being launched yet (they can still use comments, though). ✅
To make this Laravel community sustainable in the long run and not end up abandoned like every other French one, I have to monetize it. Here are my plans to make it happen:
- 📣 Ads (good-looking ones that respect privacy);
- 🤵♂️ A private community (with direct support from myself and other professionals);
- 💰 Sponsorships (I need to get the traffic up, but I'll get there when my SEO efforts pay up);
- 🧳 A jobs board. Eventually, I'll get back to the roots of the project. With proper traffic, employers will pay to post their job offers;
- 📺 An educational video platform. I can't wait to get to this part; it might be sooner than planned.
So what do you think? I'd love your feedback and suggestions. Please talk about this project if you know people who might be interested. Thank you!
