LINER is a web highlighter that helps you highlight, save, and organize your text. LINER helps you filter out excessive noise content so you can focus on key references. Sometimes you only need one sentence from a 100 page document. Online content is often an excessive mess of information. Yet, there still hasn't been a solution that helps you manage your references. People are still resorting to primitive means of copy-and-pasting text. And there's no way to manage your scattered Medium highlights, Kindle highlights, and PDF highlights. LINER aims to aggregate isolated highlighting services under a single roof. Simply highlight your favorite sentences and we'll do the rest. By crowd-sourcing highlights, we can find out what content people are actually interested in. While Google is limited to knowing what “pages” you prefer, LINER goes a level-deeper and knows what "sentences" within the page you prefer. LINER's sentence-graph can provide data-fuel for A.I. platform such as IBM's Watson.

@nikkielizdemere What exactly are the changes/improvements in this update?

@from81 Hi! @wcm0505 as the maker should weigh in on this question. :)

Guys, Love Liner. Have been a fan for a long time and I always recommend Liner for my friends who are looking to highlight the web. I am a Safari person and for various reasons, we use only Safari at work. Liner for Safari is completely broken and for a very long time. When are you guys planning to fix it? And where can I provide feedback for you? Are you guys on something like https://hellonext.co?

Spam much? My GOD this thing won't leave me alone. Constantly popping up to ask me to buy premium, scroll too fast, LINER. Highlight something on a website, LINER. This extension was up my butt. Glad it's uninstalled. Would be useful if it just hid in plain sight and showed up when highlighting something and then maybe right-clicking on it - like Evernote, Dictionary, etc.

The team is always doing their best to improve their products. Always impressed by their meticulous dedication to the product quality enhancement. I am personally using it with great satisfaction. :) I would certainly love to recommend Liner 5 to the ones who have to do many research on web.

Which data is getting shared with you and other parties and for what reasons?
Luis Alvarez
@thomasleiterman It attempts to set cookies for https://platform.twitter.com and https://staticxx.facebook.com. It does this by adding an i-frame to the top of the browser window. Part of the data that gets sent along to these sites is the site that you are visiting. If you inspect the page, you will find an i-frame in the window. I am sure this will not affect the majority of users. It just irked me that browser history is sent to these sites. Wondering if it's necessary or just an oversight. And if it's necessary, why?
Luis Alvarez
@thomasleiterman Wow! I just deleted the original post. It was showing up double on my browser. I deleted the second one and when I come back, both are gone. My apologies to all, but I do not have the original post and I did not delete it on purpose. If anyone knows how to get it back, please inform my dumb self.
Thomas Leitermann
@luis_alvarez Hi Luis - I can see the original post re: cookies from twitter & fb. Is this the one you're referring to? Unfortunately the makers don't seem to be very responsive here...
Luis Alvarez
@thomasleiterman Yes sir. I believe that is the one. I will not be at all upset if you copy it and post it? Or somehow send it to me and I'll post it. Now, I did some very limited research and found out that these urls above are used to communicate with both Twitter and Facebook in order to use the signup with your Facebook/ Twitter account. Problem is, that when I looked at the data that was being posted to those addresses, they included the url that I was visiting at the moment. This to me is evidence that wherever you are offered the ability to login using your FB/Twtr accounts, Facebook and Twitter are data mining your information to death. I am working on a website that is going to allow any merchant to easily implement a Bitcoin cashier to their site. No API needed, though one will be available. Imagine if a site with such sensitive data, supposedly based on anonymous coins, is reporting your browser guts and activity to Facebook and Twitter? Kinda defeats the anonymity purpose I would think.

Cory Newton
Do you guys have an Android app too?
Brian Woo
@corynew73331189 Of course we have an Android app! You can get it from the URL below: https://play.google.com/store/ap... As LINER for Android is in beta, it may contain bugs, and it may crash. You can help us to improve the app by informing us about all such events.
Anna Filou
@corynew73331189 @wcm0505 only the iOS app is listed on PH so I thought you probably don't have one for Android! :) Thankfully you do, will check it out
Santos Ray

This is a must have app for all the university students through out the globe. I use this app everyday, without this app I would not have acomplished what I have done through out my time in university. Thank you so much for this app to the Liner team.

I don't know what LINER looked like before as this is my first time coming across it but currently the website and app look beautiful, great illustrations, minimal, straight to the point. I wish the free tier had more than 1 highlighter color but I guess it's great that there's a free tier at all! Will check it out and write a review ASAP.
Gregory Claeyssens

I've only just installed it and had a look around for about 30 minutes. It's definitely something I'm going to keep using!

Pros:

handy tool

Cons:

no copy to clipboard in the chrome extension,

share link doesn't seem to actually show my highlighted text

I had a similar idea awhile back because I wanted to be able to highlight in kindle iOS app and save the quote somewhere. But after downloading Liner, it seems like the highlight only works within the native app, if I go to chrome browser or kindle iOS, I won’t be able to highlight and save it in the Liner app.
