I'm a Grammarly user, I'm not a native English speaker and I feel that Grammarly may not cope well with checking grammar in more complex cases.

Pros:

It has a free version

Cons:

It's not clear how is this app vs Grammarly and there's no free trial of Premiu, version when you sign up for free version.

Alex Lashkov
Hey Ingvar, thanks for your opinion. We provide our free version with maximum functionality, you may use 2500+ patterns for finding errors. So, even without Premium your back is covered. That said, I have to admit that trial access for Premium plan in 99% of cases is pure cheating: the user is asked for his/her payment details in order to activate the trial, if you forget to end your subscription, the system will start withdrawing money after a few days. We do not want to grow revenues like this, our users start with a free version, see common and advanced errors, it can catch, and then decide to upgrade. You have the full control.

Excited to try this out! Was just feeling annoyed with Grammarly this morning so glad there is an alternative.

So, I tried using Textly.ai on my 2018 iPad Pro/iOS. Your web app seems to be NOT optimized for touch and/or iOS. Can’t select text. Can’t undo (only applies to title not main body). It’s all weird and not mapped correctly to the screen. Worked fine for two paragraphs then wen’t crazy on me! Any plans for an iOS/iPad app? I don’t use PC/MacBook anymore, so can’t use the chrome extension. Screenshot of my issues: https://m.imgur.com/a/0tzICyo
Alex Lashkov
@insidenima yep, basically your use case is not that popular for our users based on the stats, so we did not put a lot of resources into optimizing web app for iPad yet. We are planning to release our iOS app soon, it will be a keyboard that you can use to get your writing fixed

@alexlashkov Thanks Alex :) so I will have to use my home PC for trying Textly! curious how it compares to Grammarly, so will give it a try.
Alex Lashkov
@insidenima great, thanks! Let me know if you'll get any questions or difficulties, so I could help

@insidenima see my review above. I think the cost/benefit ratio makes Textly.AI the best alternative to Grammarly.

Great to come across this and love that it is available for Chrome and FF - especially as I am a FF user! I also appreciate that we can choose what language we are using e.g. UK English for me. @alexlashkov I would love to be able to report an alternative spelling - I know we can add something to the dictionary and report an incorrect suggestion. In the meantime I am adding this to my resources list for the workshops I teach and to my PH curations.

Hi - Has any one yet compared it with Grammarly? Would be curious to hear. Satisfied with Grammarly so far and wonder what would justify switching. Thanks!
Alex Lashkov
Hey @followflavius! Thanks for the question, yes you can see some info on how we compare to other services here: https://textly.ai/blog/how-we-ar... Shortly speaking, we have a bit different approach to things like privacy and a hugely different approach to how a writing enhancement tool should work like. For now such services usually just edit what you've written, while we are adding more and more features for content creation, fighting writer's block, and language learning. For example, we already have a templates library with dozens of samples of texts so that you can get inspiration and start writing, soon releasing a huge knowledge base and adding language learning games right into the web app.

I've just started using it, and so far the tool looks interesting. I like its speed, and it highlights real errors (I've tried some checkers before, they also fired useless alerts). Will give it a try for a week or two to decide whether it is worthy of upgrading

Pros:

Just signed up for Chrome extension, works fast and finds a lot of errors.

Cons:

Need iOS keyboard, it is missing right now

Yulia Shimanova

Installed Chrome extension week ago, works properly on most sites, very convenient in use

Pros:

usability, stable corrections on websites and social networks

Cons:

app for mobile would be great update

Do you have any plans on releasing open API to use your service with a third-party apps? If yes, when do you plan it?
Alex Lashkov
@new_user_d1f1cc99b4 Hey Jane, for now no specific plans on integrations or API development. We have a pretty loaded backlog right now, in a couple of months we will review all possibilities for further platform development.
Daniel Naber
@new_user_d1f1cc99b4 You could try LanguageTool's API, it's even free and Open Source: http://wiki.languagetool.org/pub...

Finally a really good Grammarly competitor. I've used Grammarly for 4 months and was on the lookout for a another option to test. So far I think it is equivalent to Grammarly in many aspects. Also, it is cheaper. I think Grammarly premium is too expensive, the cost/benefit ratio doesn't justify their price for my typical use.

How this works and from where I can install this in my laptop? My grammar is not that good. Whenever I have got essay from my mentor, I used to take help from https://www.aresearchguide.com/p... which is an research paper website. But sometimes, my heart says to write essay on my own. So, I want to improve my grammar and I am sure this will surely help me out.
