Keep track of everything you love using lists. You can save in the same app your favorite movies, tv shows, books, video games, podcasts, restaurants, recipes or anything you want.
Hi all, this is Isma from Listy.
I want to share with you some thoughts about why we built Listy out of a personal reflection 5 years ago:
Collecting is an instinct we all have. It's likely a leftover from our ancestors who gathered and stored food to survive through cold and scarce times.
In today's world, we no longer need to stockpile food, but the urge to collect persists. We now collect digital content like videos, articles, and recommendations for places to visit. This results in an ever-growing list that can leave us feeling overwhelmed by FOMO.
We end up saving these things in different places, liking or bookmarking them across various platforms. This scatters our interests and preferences all over the internet.
Some people manage to stay organized by using personal notes or reminders, but they usually just write down the titles without adding any details.
However, there's a downside to this collecting habit. When we favorite or save something, it’s no longer just ours. The platforms where we save our interests hold onto that data and use it for personalized ads. This makes it hard to take all these interests with us wherever we want to go. This is done on purpose, as it gives these platforms power and the ability to sell our data to advertisers. Making us the product of their free services.
That’s why we created Listy. We believe that your interests are yours to keep and take wherever you go. We also think that everyone, not just professionals, deserves to be organized.
We've been working hard since 4 years ago to achieve this vision, iterating and evolving the product.
Our latest launch sets the path forward for the sustainability of the product, as we created Listy+ a set of pro features for those who need more powerful ways to manage their content:
- Add notes to your items
- Customize the list icon
- Organize your lists with folders
- Lock your content with Face ID
- Automatic iCloud Backups
This is super important for us because we believe in creating a tool that can be used for free by many, without exploiting personal information, by creating Pro features that a few will pay for. We are fully bootstraped without any private or public investors.
Looking forward to hear feedback from you all.
And please, if you like it, help us spread the word!
BTW: There is a promo code for the PH Community with 1 free month of Listy+: PH1MONTHFREE (works both for iOS and Android)
Oh nice! I was gonna ask how it compares to Sofa, but you already address that on the website. The website looks really cool btw! What did you use to make this a cross-platform app?
I'm the perfect target user for this app, but I'm worried about what happens if I want to stop using it. Can I export all of the items in a human-readable format? ?makers
Hi! @anna_0x, the app is not cross-platform iOS in Swift and Android in Kotlin! About the content, you can export it in 3 formats: .listy, .json and .csv
Hope this clears doubts!
Wow, Listy is hitting the nail on the head with this one! 👏 I've been drowning in bookmarks and saved posts across a dozen platforms, and it's driving me nuts. The idea of having all my digital hoarding in one place, without feeling like I'm feeding the data-hungry tech giants, is super appealing.
I recommend Listy+ for those who like to organize and save everything important in one place. This app makes it easy to create lists for anything you like, whether it's movies, TV shows, books, or anything else.
downloaded. it's awesome. the thing I note is that the app works perfectly fine without a subscription. maybe try to get more aggressive asking the card upfront for a free trial or add more perks to the subscription because the free deal is better than the paid deal. maybe limit the number of lists or searches
I've been looking for something like this for the longest time. Congrats on your launch @basiclines! It's annoying having different review apps for food, movies, and other random stuff when you can compile it all into one app. How'd you come up with this idea?
@joseph_blass you can create as many lists as you want to track what you love. People can suggest new categories so we can keep adding more types of lists
