Logo Lab puts logos to the test. Simply upload a logo, and you’ll be presented with visual experiments that test key factors like scalability, silhouette, and balance. Easily determine where a logo succeeds and where it could use some improvement.

Love this tool, @bransshep. I just ran the Product Hunt "P" logo through it and fortunate we're safe (which is expected, considering how simple the logo is).
Brandon Shepherd
@rrhoover Awesome! I'm not surprised your logo passed. You all seem to know what you're doing 😎
Tom Frazier
Absolutely amazing. This has been needed for a long time.

Bookmarking for the digital squint via the blur. That's a genuine BFA trick right there. @bransshep @brettsshep
Brad Bitler
Too cool! Looks like I made some incorrect assumptions on my latest logo design.
Brandon Shepherd
@bitler It's never too late to make a few tweaks!

Pretty cool and very snappy! I noticed a jpeg won't work as intended in the Color test. Perhaps add a note to say it's expecting a png or vector?
Brett shepherd
@timwinfree When you upload an image, if its not of the right type, you should get an error message below the upload button saying "File must be a PNG or SVG!". It works in our testing, not sure why it wouldn't work on your end.
Tim Winfree
@brettsshep Sorry, Brett, you're right. I had used a png with a solid white background (which I just assumed must be a jpeg). I suppose my suggestion then might be to tell users it's expecting a transparent png.

great attention to detail. Color blind simulation and app icon are cool ideas that I might have to steal : ]

@komarovegor Thanks Egor! Glad you like it

Absolutely the realistic approach to test your Logo! Plain & beautiful design, clearly understanable descriptions for your logo. It may be a basic standart to test your logo designs quickly.

Pros:

Realistic approach to test your Logo!

This is incredibly useful, Brandon and Brett. Thank you.

Awesome tool!

Wow! This is amazing! Tried out a logo that I picked out at random for a side project (I'm a dev). I should pick another better logo. Great insights! Thanks for building this!
Brandon Shepherd
Great to hear, @rajagopalilango! Glad it's helping you out already 😀

It's a cool tool, but maybe for using the logo in apps or favicons could be useful to add a variation of the logo. For example, in the majority of the cases we use just the isotype, no the complete logo. Thanks for the tool, it's useful to have the view for color blindness.
Brandon Shepherd
@elizabeth_arostegui Thanks for the suggestion! We wanted to keep it as simple as possible, which is why we didn't include uploading variations. Hopefully it's easy enough to just upload the different versions separately.

Beautifully designed tool to run a variety of tests on logos. As someone who has deuteranomaly, I especially appreciate the color-vision deficiency tests/filters. One test you might consider adding is showing the logo as a favicon as it would appear in different browsers next to a tab title @bransshep @brettsshep . I've seen some logos that work as app icons but look strange when you throw it on a Chrome tab. Thanks for making Logo Lab!
Brandon Shepherd
Thanks for the feedback, @bryanlin850! And that is a great idea. It's actually something we had considered initially, but ended up leaving out. Maybe it's time to put it back in!

Hi guys! Good logos tend have a few common characteristics. This includes being able to be used at different size, inside various containers, in color or black and white, ect. We created Logo Lab to be an easy way to quickly test the most common qualities a good logo should have. It’s great for showing clients where their current logo fails and where a newly designed logo succeeds. It’s also great for people just starting out in logo design who want to ensure they are following best practices.

I just tried your product, and even as a Communication Boss, I have to say that Logo Lab really made me realised things I would have missed when judging a logo, because how simple it is to use, how beautiful and clear is the interface, and more importantly because of how you put exemples next to each others so we can actually see where are the problems with a logo. I mean, I know my logo should be recognisable whereas it is big or tiny, but have both of them side to side is great and so simple. I also love to see how my logo would look for a colourblind person, and see my logo around famous one so I could see if it was reaching attention or not. This is great work, and I will definitely use your tool every-time I'll have to update my logo or create one. Thanks for the good work @brettsshep & @brandonsheppard !
Brandon Shepherd
@quentinlemr Thanks so much for taking the time to give feedback! Super glad you get value from it, and I hope it helps you create great logos in the future!

This tool is very useful. I hesitated a lot when I had to make my first batch of promotional items. Thankfully, it was good enough. But now I'll try to use such supportive apps. I'm going to buy more branded bags here https://www.promoparrot.com/prom... with my logo and design. I'll try to figure out with your tool before.
