I've been using Loom's desktop app for both Windows and Mac (I use it on both platforms) while it's been in early access. The team has been diligently improving the product and I'm a daily user of it. Super excited for this to go live with PRO as well!

@_shahedk Great product πŸ‘ Will there be an option to record audio in the background of desktop narration in the Pro version?
Stephen Chip
Super excited to download the Mac Pro version! Looking forward to using the drawing tools and the HD. It has to be the easiest to use tools out there. Zero learning curve. That’s the mark of a great product! I used loom to create this video last week. https://youtu.be/U10jYmsE6EQ

@_shahedk I've played with Loom a bit and absolutely love the product. How do you think about your thesis relative to other video-first products like vidyard or vimeo?

Hey @jeremykovac! Great question. I would bucket Loom as a "video-first product" as well. The distinction I would draw between what companies like Vidyard, Wistia, and Vimeo are working on is that they're video *distribution* platform where as Loom is a video *communication* platform. Video distribution platforms tend to focus on content that has a marketing orientation (evergreen, high quality, high volume views) where as Loom is hyper focused on day-to-day workplace communication across all departments.

I had tried Loom a while back, and it wasn't a fit then. Just tried a trial of the new Pro version and it seems really nice, and the workflow to record a quick information video, bug, support video, or product feedback is fast and slick. The only items that keep it from being perfect for me (and will probably keep me from buying long term) 1. Way too much branding on the video playback page, including a call to action popup and the end of playback. This is going to be confusing to some of the non-tech people I send videos to, and I'm going to spend more time explaining this to them and telling them they didn't really need to create a Loom account than what the product saves me in time. For a free product, brand the heck out of it - but a paid version should allow you to hide most or all of this. I looked in the KB for a way to disable this, but couldn't find it. Sent a message to the team, so hopefully they will come back with something to help. 2. The default "Dock - Dock" video name for every video. Why not at least make this a time / date. I'd probably change this 80% of the time, but it would be nice if the other 20% didn't all have the same video name

Pros:

Great video quality, easy to use, uploads are automatic and fast

Cons:

Even with the Pro account there seems to be a lot of forced Loom Branding and call to actions on the video playback URL

Great audio and video quality. Love the emojis and # view tracking. Very grateful for the Loom PRO invitation. Just downloaded it and can't wait to use the advanced features. Thank You Thank You πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Pros:

I am a Happy Loom user for about two months now. Extremely easy to use and no watermark for this free tool - Awesome!

Cons:

For the regular version, Trim feature has room for improvement. Not a big deal. It may no longer be applicable to the PRO one.

Been using Loom for ~2 years and continually impressed by the use cases - design/ux/ui recordings, communicating with remote peers, video notes for team knowledge base and so much more! The ubiquity on slack, trello, chrome, and desktop is so appreciated. Work life is easier and happier thanks to Loom.

Pros:

Fantastic product. Works flawlessly. Amazing team.

Cons:

None. Loom is a dream come true.

I started using Loom and got offered to use the Pro version. It's been great for creating everything from all out webinars to quickie videos to show my designers how to make a change or a project. Overall a really solid piece of software that has been added to my stack.

Pros:

Really fast and easy to use. Lightweight resource for people who make a lot of videos and need to share them quickly.

Cons:

A few competitors offer better features.

Ben Fryc

Would love the ability to tag and label things in a particular video and reference those tags outside the video.

Pros:

Love being able to select an area of my screen to record. Especially helpful when doing design reviews for mobile websites or apps.

Cons:

None for now!

Rick
Hi @_shahedk ! I have been using Loom free for about a year now (and I love it!) but I have to say I am disappointed that you guys did not include the Linux community during the release of Loom PRO . Specially since now it is easier than ever to build for Linux using Snaps and distribute to multiple Linux distrios with just one build. Can you guys please add this as a request?

@_shahedk @rhunter Hey Rick! Unfortunately a Linux app is not on our roadmap for the foreseeable future, but we will be iterating on the existing chrome extension and making it much faster and more powerful in the coming months.

I'm Gyazo obsessed but started using Loom for video...wow is it freakin awesome! @_shahedk and team awesome work. Loving Loom so far!
Sascha Michael Trinkaus

Would happily move on from CloudApp Pro to this if it had support for static images.

Fantastic product

Cons:

Needs screenshot support!
