Swingby is a video conferencing tool for remote teams that allows people to easily connect together, without the hassle of planning a meeting in advance. You can just pop by (Swingby πŸ€”) on a channel and start talking with the people inside it.

With this covid time, with my team, we used Discord for working in remote and speak with other instantly. But it missed something, the video. With Swingby it's exactly the tools we needed. An instant vocal and video conversation for keeping the link between all the team and always be motivated. Thank you @henrichabrand1 for this solution !

Thanks for your message @thibaut_van_der_werf ! We used to use Discord as well and stopped for the exact same reason. When you're six people on a channel and someone talk, you're never sure who's actually speak – and you only get half of the intent with video πŸ˜‰

A friend of mine sent me a link to join a video conference which brought me to Swingby website. I’ve download the app and can’t stop using it since then! The tool itself is really minimalist and simple to use. Plus, it is completely free and doesn’t even require an email (!) I’m a PM and I’m using it with my squad to stay in touch during those quarantine time. I’ve reached out to the maker and though I’ll share this little gem here. I’m sure it is going to be really useful for a lot of people, especially with the current lockdown situation and as more and more people are working from home now.

@thomas_bonnardot thanks a lot for Hunting us πŸ™Œ Swingby was created from simple frustration: the lack of spontaneous conversation when working remotely. The current situation forces many of us to work remotely – and maintaining a good team spirit and cohesion can be difficult, especially for teams that are not used to work this way. We tried a lot of things to stay close and agreed that video conferencing was a good way to recreate what we had when working in the same office – so we've started to create a recurring "Morning Coffee" meeting β˜• Not a mandatory meeting, but always here for anyone to drop by and say Hi πŸ‘‹ This was great, but it was only a one-time-in-day gathering and then it was radio silence... πŸ¦— That's when we started thinking about a way for those gathering to be more present and spontaneous in our day to day – we were picturing people just moving around in the office and starting talking to each other... but how to achieve that when remote? Three quarantined weekends later – Swingby was live πŸš€ It's fairly easy to use – you can create or join a channel, and start spontaneous discussions with the people in it. And if you don't feel like talking – silence is good as well. What's important is to be always connected so that the effort to speak your mind is minimal. You can just hang in a channel with your team and only activate the microphone and camera when you want to share a thought – this helped us feel closer as if we were working on the same table. To face the current COVID-19 crisis and the lockdown of so many cities now, we have released a public space for Swingby – free for everyone and forever. No credit card nor email required. We currently only support desktop applications for Mac – but we are working hard to bring Swingby to other platforms πŸ™Œ

Thanks @henrichabrand1. I've been working remotely managing an international team and we've miss those spontaneous talks to relax and share casual stories. It really encourages the team to interact more frequently without any freezing face on the way. Cheers to that!

Hi @adrien_aglae_delaby ! Glad you liked it – we're missing so much interaction when working remotely, especially spontaneous thought that are never "important" enough to plan a call to speak them out. I think that's actually really valuable interaction that are being lost – and Swingby will definitely help you get them back πŸ’ͺ
