Chat with AI to build for the web, and ship faster. Go from prompt to prototypes in seconds. Iterate on a real app in real-time. Own your code, with no lock-in. Integrate with workflows developers love. One-click deploy to production.
Hello Product Hunt!
Anton here, creator of the original open source gpt-engineer (different from this).
Last year, just a month into development of we were surprise hunted and made #1 Product of the day & week. We added an ‘alpha’ label to GPT Engineer and were completely energized by the shared interest in what we’re building - an AI Engineer which enables anyone to build apps and ship 10x faster.
Over the past months tens of thousands of users signed up, and we personally onboarded hundreds - relentlessly iterating.
We’ve made leaps in stability & reliability. Generating a new front-end takes on average 15 seconds, to go from prompt to prototype. Edits take seconds — quick enough to stay in flow while iterating towards a viable product. Errors can be fixed by AI. Deploying takes a single click.
Now - founders, CTOs, product engineers, and maintainers of internal tools are able to ship faster than ever. GPT Engineer excels at building front-end, syncs 2-way with GitHub (so you can collaborate at source, own your code) and also can automatically integrate with Supabase to build full-stack web apps.
With that, we’re graduating from ‘alpha’ to ‘beta’. We have a waitlist, but we’d love to fast track Product Hunters who match the descriptions above. We’d love to have you onboard to help shape the future of development, and pave the way to an AI engineer which enables anyone to create software.

@antonosika Would love to try it out! As a non-dev founder I find this really interesting. Currently using Cursor + Claude to automate lots of daily tasks.
@antonosika@patrik_karlsson3 Hey @patrik_karlsson3, thanks for your comment. The workflow you described is becoming increasingly popular. What would you like to build with GPT Engineer, and we can prioritize your access?
This is pretty sweet, and feels a lot more real with the github integration. I was able to spin up a front end with one sentence and 30seconds wait. I'm curious when you will support building BE as a no-code or low-code engineer? Would be amazing.
Congrats on the launch @antonosika and team!
@antonosika@tonyhanded Thanks for your support and comment, Tony! We already have a support for Supabase integration (auth/DB), but we are looking into making it even more comprehensive. Do you have some specific scenarios in mind that you'd like us to support?
@antonosika@vibor_cipan - yeah for me the scenario is grabbing info on webpage i'm on, look up contact info like linkedin profile url and send out connection requests.
I had early access and used it to build the frontend for my app. It’s really impressive, the preview feature and github integration made it even more interesting. Good job
I've just been tinkering with this app and @antonosika you and your team have built an absolute beast. Like many others here, I've been using Claude and Cursor but this makes life even easier. You guys are gods. Thank you for making an app that's worth the wait!
@antonosika@davethackeray Now we have to live up to this expectation and high standards :)
But joking aside, thanks for your comment, these things inspire us and mean a lot to the entire team!
This looks like a promising tool for streamlining web app development, especially for those who might not have a full local development setup. I’ve seen similar platforms before, but the ability to own the code and deploy with one click is a nice touch. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on how this evolves.
@korzonek I'm happy to hear that! We have users who sometimes tell us that, at moments, it feels magical. I don't know about that, but it sure does feel amazing seeing people build something even if they are not technical.
Let us know what you'd like to build; if you already don't have access, we will give it to those with meaningful product ideas.
Congrats on the launch. Definitely a game changer for small to mid-size projects. What is the largest project that you have seen built and deployed (even beta) with gptengineer.app? Are there any limitations for large-ish projects (e.g with several tens of thousands of lines)?
@gorkemcetin Thanks for your support and kind words. I really don't know by heart - the biggest one I'm aware of has more than 400 edits and it's still performing very well, but I'm unsure about the number of code lines.
I'd say that several tens of thousands of lines would be pushing it - can't confidently say I saw projects of that size built exclusively with GPT Engineer
OMG - I created 2 projects (both within about 8 minutes of 1st use.. one at around 6am !! ,, the next one after work, took me using plain English instructions!!! insane!
@dan72ros It's almost a cliche now, but very often, you'll hear people saying that the most popular programming language will now be English/natural language. I am happy to see you building with us and looking forward to more!
Super excited to give this a try. For me, the toughest hurdle when starting to work on a new project is getting the basic structure in place to further iterate on, so this will definitely come in handy. Love the stack too <3
@golangch Thanks Stefan, appreciate your feedback very much!
If you'd want us to consider custom stacks, you can use this form and let us know about it so we can prioritize it https://antonosika.typeform.com/...
Exciting to see the evolution from alpha to beta, @antonosika! The ability to go from prompt to prototype in seconds is a game changer for many of us in the dev community. The integration with GitHub and Supabase is particularly impressive, making collaboration seamless. It's clear you've been listening to user feedback and iterating effectively. Can't wait to see how GPT Engineer continues to evolve! Looking forward to trying it out and seeing what we can build together - will definitely drop a use-case to get fast-tracked! Keep up the great work!
I had been on the waitlist and now I've had a chance to try it out. WOW. After 10 days of using a pair programmer GPT on OpenAI with Pro and then trying out Claude Pro (ran into my limit) I think GPTengineer is actually better than either. I may actually complete my MVP with this.
@mike_brummett Thanks for this comment and for your patience while being on the waitlist. I got goosebumps reading your comment - thanks for those words. I am looking forward to seeing what you build!
Ok, I've seen a bunch of "AI" garbage out there, and I don't write many reviews. But I have to for this one.
This is the most impressive use and interaction with github, generation, and good code structure that I've ever seen.
It uses React, Vite, and Tailwind. It automatically connected and setup authentication with firebase without me asking. I did have to put in my firebase credentials and add the domain as an approved domain (oh heaven forbid I have to cut and paste one line of text).
@antonosika Truly impressive and excited about the future of this. I did encounter some permissions issues and svg generation was good, but connecting to an Image generator for landing pages (leonardo, comfyui, stable diffusion)
Nice work.
@antonosika@startupsandcode Oh wow! This is a very nice comment—thanks for this. I'm happy that you had such a good experience with it, and I'm genuinely excited to see what you will build in the future with GPT Engineer.
I don't know if you are already there, but if not, feel free to join our Discord community https://discord.gg/jstGvUnFnm - we'd love to have you there.
@palkush We can def do something about that. If you reply to this comment and tell us what you'd like to build, we are fast-tracking people with good and meaningful ideas.
I want to build an app that lets citizens complete a short quiz about a local topic, and then use their answers & generative AI to draft a letter they can send to their local representatives.
Problem: citizens want to be heard by their representatives but writing a letter is often a big barrier
Outcome: citizens are able to quickly specify how they feel about a local issue via a quiz and a comment input and then get a draft of a letter they can send
@nick_harris1 I love this idea! Civic engagement using AI to build better communities - really great stuff!

Congrats on the launch! How would you say this compares to Cheat Layer's open source Live Mode?
https://youtu.be/6bcUwBNJAJU
A few interesting features:
Instant live Previews before chatGPT launched last year
Unlimited websites
Ideogram integration for state-of-the-art professional image generation
Automates setting up stripe subscriptions, Supabase auth logins, and deploying to Vercel from end to end
If you can improve it, please feel free to submit a PR: https://github.com/rohanarun/Ope...
@rohan_arun1 Thanks for sharing. I have to be honest - I'm not familiar with this product enough to make a meaningful comparison. But I will def take a look.
Thanks for your support!
@vibor_cipan thanks no problem I understand. I'm just hoping for a response within 5 months because he still hasn't responded since march haha. I appreciate it very much and good luck on the launch!
@vibor_cipan On the waiting list and will dive into Discord tomorrow. And BRAVO on the button that says "check gmail" and it takes you right to the inbox filtered for the email. Something so simple but fantastic!
