Loveyourcamper is a platform to connect like-minded CamperVan Lovers around the world. You can connect, follow and message other vanlifers to go on joined adventures!
HI Makers & Hunters π
I am happy to present my first application I developed by myself and therefore become an official PH Maker! π
I always had a strong passion to travel with a CamperVan and explore the world on the road. A few years ago I bought βOscarTheBusβ, a Volkswagen T3 Westfalia Van and created an Instagram Community named loveyourcamper to showcase my journey.
My original Idea of loveyourcamper was always to build a CamperVan Community so that like-minded people can connect and most importantly go on CamperVan Adventures with people in the same area. This is exactly the use case I have: Living as an expat in Ireland trying to find other people who share the same interest in CamperVans and go on joined adventures.
Born is π www.loveyourcamper.com π

βββ The Development Process βββ
I pretty much started from scratch trying to learn modern web development. I used some online learning platform like coursera and udemy to focus on the MEAN Stack. Loveyourcamper is purely built with Angular 5 + Firebase. The MVP of loveyourcamper took approximately 4 month to finish. I build it on weekends and looong nights after work.
Angular has been quite a tough ride form creating a basic running application to working with promises, observables and all the typescript oddities. Connecting Firebase as a backend application was rather an easy process. I can highly recommend Firebase to utilize its features like Authentication, Database Technology (Cloud Firestore), Hosting and Cloud Storage.
I am pretty sure that the backend can scale to millions of Vanlifers; my front-end might break tough π€ͺ
In terms of design: I did underestimate the difficulty of mobile development -> I should have started mobile first.
Let me know what you think of the application! It's still an early version so be aware of all the bugs and easter eggs π£π£
Happy Vanlifeing,
Andre & Oscar
