Luna is a chrome extension that helps you to get into ChatGPT conversations as quickly as possible from within your browsing experience.
Developed it for myself as a little helper and friends asked me to share it. More features to come!

# What is Luna?
Luna is a chrome extension that helps you to get into ChatGPT conversations as quickly as possible from within your browsing experience.
# What can it do?
Currently, Luna has two features:
1. Start a ChatGPT conversation right from your browser searchbar
- click the search/url bar or open a new tab
- type in “l”, like in Luna, a space and type away
2. Start a ChatGPT conversation by selecting text on any website
- Select any text on any website
- Right Click > Luna - Send to OpenAI
# How does this work?
Simple: The extension saves your query, sends it to a new tab with ChatGPT and starts the conversation.
# Why don’t you show ChatGPT results in the search bar?
ChatGPT is still in beta and thus offered for free by OpenAI. There is no official API for the exact thing that ChatGPT is (yet). Yes, it would be technically possible to somehow integrate it. However, out of respect for all the hard working people at OpenAI, I would currently limit the extension get you to ChatGPT faster, while still giving OpenAI the user testing experience they intended. Once there is an API, oh boy… But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
# Do you collect Chats or my personal data?
No, and as long as Luna doesn’t have features that require that (it doesn’t), I don’t want to. The query that is sent to ChatGPT is only handled locally in your browser. I don’t see any of coursework, highly sensitive coding problems from work that you probably shouldn’t copy/paste into this random language transformer or your existential struggles talking to AI that may be smarter than you (and me).
IMPORTANT:
If Luna doesn’t insert text into ChatGPT, make sure you don’t have any extensions that interfere. Extensions that are known to interfere:
- Honey
- TempMail

ChatGPT is basically a better engine than Google - way too much info on Google right now, can give you analysis paralysis. Congrats on the launch @alex9414, great product!
@daniel_kovari That's a great way to describe. I've caught myself using it more than Google at times, which is how I came up with Luna. Still usually only use it for things I already have a general idea about, so I don't get gaslighted into believing wrong solutions. Very excited what GPT-4 will bring!
