Lunar 4 — Control all your monitors, even on M1
Lunar 4 brings support for controlling monitors on M1 Macs, auto-learning curve when adjusting brightness, external light sensor support and Facelight which allows you to use an external monitor to light up your face in video calls.

Allowed me to finally adjust the brightness on my 10 year old iMac I use as an external monitor. Only software brightness worked, but that's better than nothing. Really impressed.

Hi everyone! (and M1 users)
Lunar 4 is here and it finally works on M1 Macs! You can control any monitor's brightness and contrast from any Mac device.
You can also control the volume and switch the input of the monitor from Intel Macs (or M1 Macs using a Raspberry Pi controller).
It also brings a lot of improvements over Lunar 3:
• Auto-learning curve (when syncing monitors and one of them is a bit too dim or too bright, just adjust that monitor to the right brightness and Lunar will learn from that)
• FaceLight: Use your monitor as a really bright LED panel when you're having video calls in your cozy dark room
• External light sensor support (for users that use Mac Minis or Macbooks with the lid closed)
• Minor things like "Hide menubar icon", "Improved brightness/volume keys support", "Command-line interface" and many more!
The app can be used in free mode forever with some limitations:
• Sync, Location and Sensor mode are not available
• Manual adjustments have a limit of 100 per day (an adjustment only counts after you have finished fiddling with the brightness/contrast, not on every key press)
Lunar Pro includes all of the above and the pricing is quite straightforward:
$23 (USD) or €20 (EUR) for a Lunar Pro license valid forever!
The license also includes 1 year of free updates.
After the year passes, users will have to pay again to get new updates, but they can use the old license forever on updates released before the year has passed.
On first launch, a 14-day trial for Lunar Pro activates automatically without any payment details required, so that you have time to see if Lunar works for all your monitors and if you really need the Pro features.
After the 14 days, the trial simply deactivates and you can keep using Lunar in free mode.
A must have if you don't want to toggle the physical buttons on your secondary monitor all day long, now working for M1, yeahy!
Lunar is a must have for MacBook users using external monitors with no macOS-native brightness adjustment support.
I’ve been using this app for my three MacBooks already, including the current MacBook Air on M1 chip with a 4k LG monitor.

@andrei_blaj Sorry to keep you waiting 😊 I had to quit my job to finally find the time to finish Lunar 4. 24 hours in a day simply aren't enough for a developer
@richardboenigk It should, but I hope Apple waits a few years before integrating it into macOS and obsoleting my work 😅 I worked way too much on this and I. need. money.
I can't use my Mac without lunar anymore. That's how amazing this software is. This is so handy and essential. ❤️
On the previous version, my monitors had some issues and wouldn't work consistently, one monitor would fade but not the other. This was no fault with the Lunar app, it was just my monitors were an uncommon brand using cheap cables. With Lunar 4 Pro all that has been resolved. I haven't changed anything and it just works. Upgrading to version 4 has actually saved me money.
Also, I love just how native this looks and feels when using the hotkeys on my non-Mac keyboard.
I have been using version 3 for several months. It accelerated and improved the comfort of my work. That's why I already bought the 4 pro version. Very useful!

I have been a lunar user for the past 1 year & the minute I found this app I was in love with it. There were some glitches in the last version which has been fixed in version 4 along with more pro features - So Happy! Thank you :)

Glitches are part of the experience of using an app coded by a single person at 10PM in the night after 8 hours of working at a job they hate
Absolutely great piece of software.
Not the kind you didn't know you need, the kind you desperately seek for, and then find out actually exist! I feel bad for PC users that done have such a wonderful app themselves.
Great app, with a very polished and clean interface, developed by a very kind and responsive developer :-). Indeed, Lunar Pro is a must-have for external-monitor users!
