You have a lot of applications running and a bunch of windows open. Finding and switching takes a lot of time, which you could spend at work, family, or leisure. ActiveDock can help you become more productive with macOS and save you time.
@gerasim_sergey I want to like this, as I'm a long long time Windows user and this basically recreates some of the things Windows 7 and Windows 10 have to make productivity better.
However, I'm seeing a few things on Catalina on my Macbook Pro 13":
1. Tapping on "Start" can be painful as I'll commonly get delays of several seconds before it shows.
2. Like others mentioned, general responsiveness seems to be laggy when I tap on the icons of active/running apps.
3. The "Unregistered" ribbon is a bit annoying front and center during the trial. It's way too obnoxious as it's literally on my screen at all times when I'm screensharing during business meetings.
4. When I tap on an icon in the dock that's running, it should immediately bring the last window active. I'm seeing this either inconsistently work, or there is a bug that's ignoring my clicks.
5. Small issue: On default install, the last icon on far right (in my case the recycle bin/trash) is hanging off the edge of the dock and cutoff by the screen. You can see it here: https://imgur.com/qw99Nej

I fixed the problem with the menu, let me know if it works fine and did some additional optimization, I also fixed the problem with "Unregistered"
Hi PH
In December 2017, I released the first version of ActiveDock, this application has become my most popular application of all I have done.
Over time, many features have been added and problems have been fixed. But due to the wrong architecture, not all possibilities could be realized.
After some time, I decided to completely rewrite ActiveDock from scratch.I have done Soft-Launch at this point and would now like to present ActiveDock 2 at PH
In the plans
- adding widgets and plugins
- theme editor (now the creation of themes is done by adding a theme file)
- completely rewrite Start Menu
- and much more
@gerasim_sergey honestly I think it would be better just to improve the over all performance issues and buginess of the app before concentrating on new features. Here are a few very noticeable bugs:
- Very bad lag when hovering over icons quickly. The popups for each app take too long to show up, and sometimes don't show up at all. Here is a animated gif indicating what I'm am talking about: https://d.pr/i/CvgoEc (wait till the very end when I hover over the firefox icon)
- Spinning Pin Wheels start after a while.
- Multi Monitors - dock doesnt show up when monitors are stacked on top of eachother (vertically) - it blinks in very quickly and then disappears.
These bugs make the app really, really hard to use. Fix all of this and you'll have yourself a amazing app, worth the price.
@gerasim_sergey Here is another animated gif of that hover issue happening. (I jiggle my mouse when the issue is happening) It happens way to often to make this app usable.

@jive understood, thanks ... in fact it is not from performance .... apparently some event does not work ... you wrote to me by mail (Send Feedback in the menu which is in the menu bar)? It would be great if when I fix this problem I could provide you with a build and you would test

thank you all for your support and feedback ... and of course your criticism .... I hope everyone understands that now when Apple is limiting all the possibilities, it was very difficult to create even this version ... I will rewrite some of the code and make it better .... just write to me with the help ... thanks for the support
An app requests so many permissions on MacOs 10.15, without explaining the reason for that. For the security and privacy conscious users this could be a big concern to even try out an app. I would recommend to improve the set up process by explaining how to give all permissions and why.
@kseniia_vynnyk hmm, thanks ... I thought the explanations in the access request window were enough .. I'll try to improve it ... really, these permissions are needed for the application to work correctly ... maybe I need to make the request gradually when activating each functionality
@gerasim_sergey I understand that they all needed, but I needed to provide folder access (3 of them), screen recording access, accessibility access etc. For a regular user - that's a lot to ask.
Excellent App. It has amazing features. I have it as a default auto-start on my iMac and MacBook. Increases efficiency and saves time. Having used the app for over a year, the developers keep adding additional features and refinement of the graphic interface. Frankly, I am surprised that Apple has not copied many of the features in ActiveDock 2 and made them standard customization options of the macOS dock for their Macs. I highly recommend Active Dock 2.
I am tired of people complaining about wonderful, independent apps like ActiveDock as being too complicated to activate or what have you. This is not a problem created by Sergey the fine developer of ActiveDock or the myriad of other independent developers who refuse to be controlled or enslaved by the App Store policies and procedures. The bottomline is that if you do not market on the App Store the user and developer are forced to follow insane "Security" protocols. Apple caused the requirement for Full Disk access and the like. Notice if you buy from the App Store you are not confronted with this mess! If you think it is bad for you and the independent now just wait for the upcoming horror awaiting us in Big Sur! If Apple is allowed to control "The Rest of us," our freedom of choice will be even more restricted, independents will be obstructed and we will all have Macs that look like iPads and iPhones and we will all lose the distinctiveness of the Mac. So stop grousing and celebrate that there are developers who are still trying to keep the Mac a Mac! All hail to Independent Developers like Sergey! Celebrate him and BUY HIS APPS NOW!!!
@johngregoryturner my problem isn't with the security protocols. My problem is that this software is laggy and buggy even on a top of the line Mac.... If he fixes the lag and makes the software usable, then I'll buy his apps. But in it's current state. No way.
I am running a 2019 5K Retina iMac, Catalina 10.15.6, 64GIGs and a 2 Terabyte SSD and have zero problems with ActiveDock 2, pretty top of the line. No weirdness of any sort. Sorry if you have a problem. Contact the developer with specific, reproducible problems and he will fix them., always has! This app is 100% stable, functional and hugely valuable.
I've tried to love this software. And it's features check all of the boxes. I own 5 Macs including a brand new Macbook Pro 16inch with 64 Gb ram and top of the line graphics and it's still laggy, and buggy. (This happens on every mac I try it on). It makes the app unusable and I tend to turn it off every time I try it for a while. If the performance and laginess of it improves then this would be a amazing piece of software. But in it's current state, it's unusable. Feels like alpha software.
@jive I was about to post but agree with everything you stated. I’m in the exact same boat (3 macs not 5 though) including a brand new loaded 16 inch MacBook that has the same issues (i just got it 3 days ago and it’s a fresh OS). I really want this product to work but my experience, identical to yours, is prompting me to disable it every time I try it. I’ve tried most other dock replacements and this one definitely takes the cake but the performance is keeping me from using it full time at this juncture.
@jive@gerasim_sergey I tried but the link isn’t working (ask the maker). However, I did send two support emails and have not heard back. I would love for the performance issues to be worked out as I really want to love this app. More than willing to help in any way I can.
I hate to say this, but trying the most recent version, I was hoping that all of my complaints about the app would be resolved by now. This indeed would be a fantastic productivity tool, but it's simply just not snappy. When I hover over a icon, the popup preview is super slow, or sometimes doesn't show up at all until I wiggle my mouse around it a few times. (which is NOT productive at all).
I love the windows arrangement feature, but there is this annoying thing that happens when you resize a window, the bottom will snap up above the dock, making me have to drag the window down to fit the full screen again.
If these were resolved, I would jump on this in a heartbeat. I own 5 macs. But it's just not a performant app.
