@EAWharton yup, one reason why I think the "VC found company XYZ on PH" will become a tired headline. Most products aren't VC-backable, and that's not a bad thing, so when we put emphasis on "fundable = worth discussing" we miss a whole bunch of smart people building interesting stuff. // @rrhoover
@hunterwalk 100% agree. InstaNerd, a fun site with flashcards of interesting facts, is an example of this. It received over 150 upvotes and when @mightyalex was asked if it was a side project or business, he responded:
"For now it's just a side project, but hopefully can grow into something bigger."
@rrhoover awesome. maybe we can figure out an interesting way to continue filling the funding gap btw venture and SBA loans. like a Puddle or other loan mechanism for PHers.
@hunterwalk ooo! A Product Hunt Puddle would be interesting. Think we can get 10k people to contribute $5/mo to help product builders create cool stuff?
Have been using this app for years, yet I still find myself recommending it to someone about every two weeks when their screen goes to sleep during a presentation.
I'm most impressed by the staying power of this application, and with no new features. Over all my devices, this might only be matched by instagram, another product that has only evolved in VERY small increments since its launch years ago, yet I still use it daily.
I use it every day - never had an issue with it. There's a great submenu (right-click on the menu bar on the caffeine icon / cup) to choose the periods that you want your laptop to stay awake for - also you can choose indefinitely from there too.
