How does this compare to Spectacle (which is what I'm using right now)? (http://www.producthunt.com/posts...) Guess the snapping when you drag is a nice feature. Would prefer some kind of trial or demo before buying, although it is pretty cheap.

Each falling at a different place on the spectrum from "easy to use" to "extremely configurable". I couldn't tell where Magnet falls on this spectrum from the screenshots. I had to read the marketing copy or, really, the App Store description to figure it out, something that users sometimes don't do. I'm a fan of using actual screenshots in marketing, with annotations if necessary.
Magnet seems to be taking the angle of utter simplicity, which I like. Definitely going to give it a try.

One of the features I've always loved in Windows is the aero snap. I love splitting my windows equally (OCD) and I hate manually resizing windows... BetterSnapTool is a similar option I've used for a while, but I find Magnet to work a bit better.
@domydeal Nothing in particular... I really had BetterSnapTool customized... but it was being a bit buggy as of late.
I like to try out alternatives sometimes. I enjoy the simplicity of this, and the ability to do vertical really easily.
Magnet may be a great new tool, but it's hard to beat Moom. Moom does all things Magnet does and then some. Moom lets you save app windows positioned wherever you want them and restore them with a single key-combo or by selecting the option via the Menu bar. It can move and zoom windows at the same time and lets you define custom grids and layouts. Powerful stuff.

I use Moom, it uses keyboard shorcuts, drag and snap, and a nice little shortcut when hovering over the green full-screen button. http://www.producthunt.com/posts...

Just bought it, awesome job! Dragging up to maximize is great, and using corners for quarter-windows is genius. Simple concept, very well executed (much better than the three others I tried)!
I use spectacle from the list provided, great tool it is, would 've tried this one out if I hadn't found the perfect tool for me ^^
Really wish I could try this as a demo. Used multiple products in the past for window management and would happily drop the cash on one I'm going to use each and every day. But without a way to evaluate it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@smithjw James, you can buy the app and if you are not satisfied, you can ask for refund. It should work smoothly. Isn't that enough?
While the design of this looks sweet, I've been on Hyperdock ever since I moved to a Mac (http://www.producthunt.com/posts...). Surprise no one has hunted this before though. Hyperdock is a little on the pricier side at $9.95 but the developer has made sure it stayed working even with all the new updates on OSX. Oh, and it has a trial too :)
Got this the day it was hunted. It's awesome and has done fantastic things for my efficiency. Great, great tool.
The feature I wished was in one of these window managers is for the keyboard shortcut to only affect the current tab of Safari/Chrome... so you could have a stack of tabs on one side of the screen and then use one key command to pull the current tab out of the stack and move it to the other side of the screen.
I purchased after not being able to find a trial-- thinking "this MUST have some different take on window management than divvy or BetterSnapTool" but I am disappointed it does not. Costs $3 more than BetterSnapTool with a fraction of the capability.
But a nice UI/UX and setup. This should appeal to non-power users and users recently switched from Windows that miss the window snapping. It even looks a little "Microsofty" in the branding ;]
Would love to try it if I could. I currently use Shift It which doesn't have the drag functionality, but I prefer keyboard shortcuts anyway.
I Love magnet, it brought the only thing I missed from Windows to the Mac. Soooo simple to use, a must have if you have multiple screens. Surprised it hasn't been acquired / copied by apple yet?
I love this product - the *only* thing I liked about Windows was the ability to snap my windows in to place on my desktop. Magnet adds the one feature I wanted for my Mac from Windows and super-sizes it - especially with multiple monitor support.
