I'm Thor, maker of Maia. After conversations with nursing mothers and diving deep into research, we discovered something concerning: while tracking is for many mothers crucial for breastfeeding confidence, many existing apps were actually creating stress and anxiety during precious feeding moments. This insight led us to reimagine what a breastfeeding companion could be. Maia combines essential tracking with emotional support in an experience that feels more like a nurturing friend than a clinical tool. Some key features we're proud of: - Adaptive interface that dims and simplifies at night - Smart insights without overwhelming data collection - Daily affirmations and mindfulness prompts - Complete privacy with iCloud-only storage - No registration required - just download and start tracking What sets Maia apart is our focus on protecting the mother-baby bond. Recent research shows that intensive app use during feeding can impact bonding quality, so we've carefully designed every feature to support mothers while staying in the background. I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback, especially from parents who've experienced the challenges of breastfeeding. What features do you find most valuable in supporting new mothers? Thank you for checking out Maia! Feel free to reach out for free offer codes πŸ™

@thooor Congrats on Maia, Thor! The focus on bonding is refreshing. Have you considered adding gentle, personalized feeding reminders to support mothers further?
Thor Martin
@tonyabracadabra Thank you Tony! Really appreciate the kind words πŸ™ Yes, we do offer optional gentle reminders, but we've been very mindful in their implementation. Our philosophy is that babies are the best timekeepers - their hunger cues are far more important than any schedule. The reminders are there as a light touch of support for mothers who want them, not as rigid timetables. Our research showed that being too notification-heavy can create anxiety rather than help, which goes against our core focus on protecting those precious bonding moments. It's all about finding that delicate balance between helpful support and letting the natural rhythm between mother and baby lead the way.

This idea can be helpful for many young mothers out there. I think on PH there is a gap when it comes to medical/health-care products and think these should be promoted more as it can improve the quality of health. :-) For me, it is unique. Wish you good luck! :)

@busmark_w_nika Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, Nika! πŸ™ You're absolutely right about the gap in medical/health-care products on PH. We built Maia to specifically address real problems we kept hearing about: bright screens disrupting nighttime feeds, overwhelming data entry stealing attention from baby, and clinical interfaces adding stress to feeding sessions. Your encouragement means a lot. We're focused on making every feature serve a clear purpose. Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective! πŸ’œ

Congrats @thooor! I love the idea, this could be very helpful, especially for first time moms. I really appreciate the tracking and suggestion to change side while breastfeeding bc it's so important and often it's a "trick" that only few know. Would you consider adding a feature for white noise, nature sounds or calming music to help the baby rest after the meal? I know many parents get it wrong by using random lullabies. Or something like a personalised experience for moms of twins?
Thor Martin
@sofia__bettari Thank you Sofia! πŸ™ Really appreciate your thoughtful feedback about the side-switching reminders - it's exactly those small but important details we wanted to get right. On the ambient sounds - that's such a great suggestion. Having worked on music streaming at Apple Music and Tidal, I'm particularly careful about doing audio features right. Creating the perfect soundscape for feeding and rest is something we'd love to tackle, but we want to ensure it's thoughtfully implemented with proper audio engineering and research-backed sound selection, not just a quick add-on. Maia already supports tracking for up to two babies. We worked to make switching between children simple and intuitive, but we can definitely work on some more features that are tailored to moms of twins.

Good job on doing all the necessary market research Thor, I guess the most important thing is always to go to the end user to make sure that the project will actually satisfy them!! I'm not too much of a pro when it comes to this topic although I can imagine that the scheduling is vital given the alternate sleeping schedule babies tend to be on!! I like the fact there's no registration, can really separate those who use it frequently vs. those who are trying it out!!
Thor Martin
@cranqnow Thank you Sam! You've highlighted something really important about sleep-deprived parents needing frictionless tools. πŸ˜‚ It's exactly why we focused on making Maia simple and work instantly - no accounts, no setup hassle, just download and start tracking. The lack of registration also aligns with our privacy-first approach. We found mothers were concerned about sharing sensitive feeding data (not least to recent cases in the US around pregnancy apps), so keeping everything private and encrypted on your personal iCloud account just made sense. And yes - talking directly with nursing mothers was eye-opening. It helped us understand how to design the interface for simplicity and for specific use case such as those middle-of-the-night feeds when simplicity and a calming experience matters most.

This is a blender for new mothers! Breastfeeding tracking has been simplified along with that, mothers have also been cared for, which reflects the thought put into this. Good job! πŸ‘
Thor Martin
@razzaq_abdul Thank you Abdul! πŸ™ Really touched by your observation about caring for mothers, not just tracking feeds. That was exactly our goal - blending practical features with emotional support, making sure moms feel supported while keeping things simple and unobtrusive. Your feedback means a lot!

@thooor As a dad of a 2-year-old, I really wish we had Maia during our breastfeeding journey before - my wife went through so many challenging moments. Are you planning to add any community features where new moms can share experiences and support each other?
