Hi everyone! Makers of MLH Career Fest here 👋
Every year, we work with more than 100,000 technical students around the world through our on-campus events like hackathons and workshops.
Their lives have been thrown through a loop by COVID-19. They’re now at home, trying to take online courses for the first time, missing important events like their college graduation.
And yet, in a few months these students are still expected to go out into the world and begin their post-college careers!
On-campus events are a super important part of this process, as they give students an opportunity to make a personal connection with a recruiter beyond what a resume can showcase.
We built MLH Career Fest to give them a virtual opportunity to be matched up with awesome employers for 5 minute video chats that can give them that same warm fuzzy feeling that they get from a great in-person conversation.
We’re even donating all of the recruiter-funded proceeds to the CDP COVID-19 Response Fund.
# How It Works
1. You sign up and fill out a profile.
2. MLH Career Fest runs you through our matching algorithm to pair up recruiters and candidates.
3. You log on for your scheduled time slot and let the magic happen!
4. At the end, everyone gets a match digest so they can follow up and continue the hiring process.

This is a super efficient response to our current times by a team that's capable of helping our 2020 grads and interns. And the proceeds benefitting the CDP COVID-19 Response Fund is a great use of funds. Props!

Finding a job is hard in general. I can only imagine the stress current students are under now. This is a great idea and I love what MLH is doing in the face of COVID-19!
We couldn't have expected a better initiative and much needed hack for current collegiate hackers than MLH Career Fest. Especially for the ones graduating soon. It is on point. It will help programmers by not only providing the opportunity to meet recruiters but also save time, cost efficient option and inspire to invent similar hacks! Love it! Filling out the typeform now!
@akisingh09 thanks for the feedback! Hackathons have already started changing the way that students find jobs. We're hoping we can push things even further and make a big impact right now by moving the best parts of that experience online!

@paul_horton Yeah, it's live for signups now but we'll be hosting the first round of scheduled chats during the first week of April
This sounds fantastic! It is a great way for hackers to get in contact with recruiters and even display more about themselves than just their resumes. I'm excited for this!
