Turn your unread newsletters into daily, personalized podcasts. These AI-generated episodes summarize the key highlights, making them perfect for on-the-go listening or when you're short on time.
Happy Wednesday, Product Hunt! ☀️
I’m Sean, co-founder of Meco, and I’m excited to share our latest feature!
Since our last launch, we’ve freed millions of newsletters from cluttered inboxes, and provided readers with an award-winning space for reading, organizing and discovering newsletters.
But let’s face it—during busy times, newsletters can still become overwhelming. Our newest feature is our first of many designed to offer a new way to stay on top of your newsletters. It doesn’t replace traditional reading but makes staying informed easier and more enjoyable than ever before.
🎧 Meet Daily Brief 🎧
Imagine starting your day with a 5-10 minute personalized audio briefing, crafted from the newsletters you care about most.
This AI-powered personal podcast delivers essential updates, cutting out fluff and repetitive stories—perfect for staying informed on the go, even when short on time. Just tell us what newsletters to include and what time you’d like to receive your audio roundup and we'll do the rest!
Daily Brief is available on iOS and web and Android in a few weeks (waiting list)! 🤫 You try it out with a 7-day free trial or enjoy non-personalized audio roundups for free.
📱 How Meco works 📱
Meco is your home for reading and discovering newsletters. You can connect your existing Gmail or Outlook inbox to Meco for a speedy setup or start fresh with a unique Meco email for newsletters.
The app is packed with powerful read-it-later tools (AI text summaries, highlighting, link bookmarking), personalization (fonts, themes including dark mode) and organization (connect multiple Gmail/Outlook accounts, groups, filtering).

Thank you again for your support on our mission to reimagine newsletter consumption! Any feedback is massively appreciated so we can keep improving Meco!

P.S. Thanks to all our users and newsletter partners for making Meco what it is today!Try web readerDownload iOS appAndroid wait list
@sean_mccarney1 would it automatically sync to all the newsletters (trust me there are a lot in my inbox) to identify key information and turn it into voice notes?
Seriously this is the kind of thing I was looking forward to
Hi @prad_vv , absolutely! Here’s how it works: We have a quick setup process where you select the up to 20 newsletters you want to include in your Daily Brief and choose your preferred delivery time (e.g., 9 AM). Once you complete the setup, you’ll receive your first Daily Brief right away, including stories from the newsletters received in the last 24 hours. From then on, you’ll receive your Daily Brief daily at your chosen time. We also offer an optional push notification as a reminder.
AI considers multiple factors to decide whether a story from a newsletter is worth including in your Daily Brief. For instance, it checks how many other newsletters in your inbox mention the same story, assesses its newsworthiness and ensures that it provides valuable insights overall. There are some other minor steps in the determination pipeline.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Massive congrats on the launch, @sean_mccarney1! I'm a big fan of Meco and it's great to see it on the front page of Product Hunt today. Easily the best tool out there to discovering and reading newsletters.
@owenfar Thank you!
With the free version of Meco you can create a new Meco mailbox address, a dedicated address for your newsletters. You’ll also get access to a ton of features that improve your reading experience!
Paid includes Daily Brief and inbox integration (and instant decluttering)
Hope that helps :)
Meco has been a mainstay for me since discovering it years ago and I make a point to share it with anyone who feels overrun but their inbox. So cool to see this next step into something I already can't get enough of – better ways of consuming larges swaths of information.
Congrats @sean_mccarney1 and @erimfranci
I have nearly 4,000 emails in my inbox and hope Meco can help. Can it intelligently recognize newsletters? Also, how does it ensure user data security, given that there are a lot of private emails?
@bonvisions Hey Bon! There is instant detection for newsletters and you select the ones you'd like to add to Meco!
You can read more how we ensure the highest levels of security and privacy in our FAQs https://www.meco.app/faq
Oh this is so helpful! Interesting how did you make it differentiate newsletters from other emails, it's amazing. Congrats to the launch @sean_mccarney1
I love this app and love @sean_mccarney1 the man behind it - truly have rarely if ever used such a great tool for reading newsletters it's the best congrats Sean!
I've been using Meco as both an avid newsletter reader and also as a newsletter publisher for about 3 years now. It's a great product that helped me grow my readership and expand my reach, as well as being a really effective and efficient tool for managing all of my newsletter subscriptions. Well done @sean_mccarney1 for persevering with the product and continually finding ways to make it even better!
Innovative idea! How does the AI determine which highlights are most relevant for individual users? Also, can we customize the voice or style of the podcast summaries? Excited to see this in action!
This is cool - I have a few newsletters which i don’t need to read everyday , but I still want to consume the content maybe at the end of the week.
I recently tried the Google paper to podcast tool, and I can see how this can be even more useful for newsletters. Would be cool to create podcasts for several newsletters and de-dupe content since I sub to a lot of similar newsletters.
Congrats on the launch @sean_maccarney1 and team!
Congratulations on the launch! I'm curious if you could share a bit more about how this works from a tech perspective. What stack are you using? And what were some surprising realisations you had while developing this feature – things that were much harder than you thought or way easier than anticipated?
@davidbauer Hi David, thanks for your comment! We experimented with various open-source models like Mistral and Llama to keep costs down, but GPT-4o-mini arrived just in time! For text summarization and transformation, we rely on OpenAI’s GPT-4o-mini. For text-to-speect we also use OpenAI (best one out there for our use case and scale). For generating artwork, we use Stability AI’s SD 1.6.
Some realizations:
- The AI landscape is evolving rapidly. You implement a solution, and something better or more cost-effective quickly emerges.
- There is no such thing as a perfect prompt; it can always be refined. Having an effective method for evaluating your prompts is essential.
- Every model we tested had its own limitations and quirks. While switching between models is relatively easy, we encountered numerous minor challenges to reach this point.
- Open-source models are great, but deploying them isn’t straightforward. Many providers offer pay-per-million-token or per-request pricing, which theoretically scales well. However, during our testing, we found that many of these providers either shut down their services or change their terms.
- Understanding caching is essential. Our challenge is that all the podcasts we generate are 100% personalised for each user, so they can’t be reused. As a result, we had to implement alternative caching strategies to keep costs under control.
- We’ve also come to realise that this is not a one-and-done project; the potential of this technology goes far beyond what we’ve accomplished so far. Moving forward, we’ll introduce many new personalisation options, such as prioritising or deprioritising specific topics, selecting different voices, choosing the length and much more!
