@kcarth It came down to wanting to have real conversations with folks I did not have a chance to meet. I was a part of multiple communities and it was never possible or easy to have that first live 1:1 conversation. Whether it was folks I did not meet at a live event or part of some chat or forum community, I knew there were great folks to connect with! So as you know, we built a platform that automates professional matching making & the scheduling to get folks to have that 1st real conversation!
@kcarth@dzaitzow Yes, thats a core theme/thesis. We believe chat based/forum & 1 to many platforms are diffused. Still all good, but there's a community engagement gap, and should be a scalable authentic way to triangulate relevant 1:1 professional intro calls for communities to have that 1st real interactions. we're getting ready for our self-serve launch soon on that front.
@kcarth@matthew_apprendi Very cool - This is really interesting for me as we'll have a neat GTM community component of our SaaS that will help people do just this - test if there is a community vs taking a ton of time to develop and build on a complex platform. Keep me posted on the journey and happy to help in any way I can!
@dzaitzow will do! We’re launching a freemium version of the community building features too. We’re trying to move fast and hoping to finalize that functionality for launch in a couple weeks:)
@imaravind Yup - will be a tough one to crack. our general idea is that we are building for the user 1st, make sure our "how" really gets folks to authentically connect via live 1:1 conversations. 2) our 2nd move to hopefully help with scale will be launching features specifically for community builder to harness our novel way to engage community to complement the more mainstream chats/forum types of products. will see!
awesome idea, this is something I really missed when I started using PH.
Just gave it a shot, hopefully, you will get a bunch of users from here :)
Congrats on the launch and good luck!
@dfeles Many thanks for signing up! yes, each new user very important. for scale but ultimately for matching making. The systems automated workflows kick off Mondays, You may of just missed this weeks batch, depedning on when signing up. for the most curated weekly intros (we handle matching & scheduling) link your calendar. you'll get 1 intro weekly , if you and your match accept, a double opt intro occurs. If your calendar is not link, we still host weekly speed networking conversations (you can adjust your time in the preferences depending on your geo location. But ultimately the platform is built to handle live concurrent users getting 1:1 intros anywhere anytime.
Congrats on the launch, @matthew_apprendi and team!
I like the idea of facilitating real 1:1 conversations with like-minded community professionals and I am really looking forward to trying this out.
All the very best for the road ahead!
@moingshaikh many thanks! We’re excited to complement chat/forum community platforms , but really want folks to get on a real call together to meet and talk about topics important to them and/or solve stuff that can be done only via 1:1 vs. 1 to many platforms.
@matthew_apprendi great! Also I have a feedback about Profile setup as I just signed up for an account.
IMO, Location should have more options for City. I am based out in Regina - Canada but couldn't find it in the list so I selected nearest location (Calgary). You can even have 'Other' or allow a custom-city name from users to manually put their city name. Same goes for Industry.
I'll be happy to share more feedback with you or your team over personal communication as I explore it more.
Congrats Matthew! There is always a space to explore new opportunities to grow network of like-minded people and professionals, will definitely give it a try! I hope that your community will grow fast, what are the plans to attract new users?
Will join on Monday 😉
@kate_ramakaieva thanks for thoughtful support. our 1st stage is getting the workflows right to power authentic 1:1 live conversations for professionals to meet. this includes a match making algo, handling the scheduling logistics and hosting that actual 1:1 over a ~15min call -> all mutual and banning spam. 2) our next stage (hint on our next launch) is to provide community builders a self service interface to introduce their network at scale via 1:1 live conversation. We believe in the power of 1:1 to authentically meet new folks and the ability to solve complex societal problems at scale! look forward to your feedback on our product to make it a reality!
@matthew_apprendi, I love the idea so much! I would love to meet and connect with Product Hunt Community members on 1:1 calls. Thank you for developing this product. I will try it out for sure. Congrats and best of luck!
@mary_rumyantzeva many thanks! We are excited about how novelty and functionality meet to help coordinate live 1:1s. Our hope is folks really want to have a real convo or /percentage relative to the majority of online engagement of chat/forums. We believe getting on that first real call is a bit more intimate to build a rewarding relationship. Long term(amorphous goal)we see many expansions of curating 1:1s at scale. Getting folks to talk it out(synchronously) about key topics and societal problems to identify solutions.
Hey Matthew! Congratulations on the launch. Can't wait to try out Meeting Machine. Sounds like it makes networking more fun, more effortless, and seems like you never know exactly who you're gonna get - love that surprise factor.
@rockyperezz yes, part of the theme were trying to complete. There's enough mutual interests to begin/have that first real authentic conversation. from there it's up to the matches to continue building upon that first real deal convo! lots of work to still to do, but exciting to get things moving along!
@matthew_apprendi Congratulations on the launch! Your product's use case sounds incredibly useful and I can't wait to see how it solves everyday problems—well done!
@kraten thx! The big idea is scaling real live 1:1 conversations to solve big problems. I heard this somewhere can’t take credit. An organization can attempt to solve problem in three ways. 1) they already have the subject matter expertise and resources to do it. 2) they don’t have the subject of expertise so they hire an outside consultant. 3) it’s a difficult problem and/or nascent. You have to talk it out to each and everyone 1:1 to solve it. (One big presto not going to do it) so need to build and engage communities 1:1! That’s this big amorphous idea. But data to day, hoping we can provide relevant matches and automate all components to get folks on that 1st rewarding live 1:1.
Awesome concept, Meeting Machine! Connecting with Product Hunters for intro calls sounds fantastic. How does the platform ensure relevance, and are there any plans for expanding into different professional communities? Upvoted and looking forward to making valuable connections! 🌐
@clint_eastyood Thx Clint! look forward to learning more on your launch too. we already had a small snag, the launch on product hunt triggered 2.5 hours late! It was user error... but onwards!
Fascinating concept! It seems like a fantastic way to foster meaningful connections within the Product Hunt community. Ensuring mutual interest definitely sets the stage for productive conversations.
I’m curious, how does the curation process work to ensure relevance? And what steps are taken to respect the time and goals of both parties during these intro calls?
@ann_mykhailova Thanks for the Qs Anna! Both important areas we want to continue to work on and get better at. 1) Curation process - WE have a weighted alogritim that score every professional on the platform get get a relevant intro. Outside of the "intro group you join" eg. Product hunters in this case. We look at industry, geo, intro objectives (looking for a product job, Hiring for a product job.) 2) Once the mutual match is facilitating by the along, we express Why we are introducing the two professional, so they understand qualitatively. 3) once actually place in the 1:1 conference room, it's 15min by design(both users can extend up to 5min). we are using voice only too, so folks don't need to worry about having a bad hair day;). We never share the Direct contact info of each user (eg. email address, we only share linking public profile) After or during the call, we leave it to each professional to share email contacts etc/ to see if they want to continue the conversation/or work on something together of interest that was enabled by that 1st call on our platform (eg. new partnerships/Job/Customer/Cofounder) happy networking!
@kristian_mariyanov many thanks Kristian. we're excited about the prospects of facilitating live 1:1s. this can happen in three different paths 1) If relevant users are live on the platform at any point and time and you are too, then our professional matching algo will do its work at will place you in 15min calls. 2) we send out a weekly speed networking invite at predetermined time. 3) if you link your calendar, we handle all the logistics. match you with relevant professional and find mutual availability. if you accept invite and your match does too(double opt in), there's mutual intro match and the the time is booked on your calendar.
@akritihere we're believers in the power of live 1:1 conversation to authentically meet & solve complex problems at scale! we just need to keep working on the best how to make that a reality! thanks for the support!
@nareshmeetei many thanks - we lookf forward to continue to incrementally grow the 1:1 meeting network and enhance the features to make streamlined 1:1 conversations with relevant professionals a reality!
