Looks like a "clunkier" version of Trello.
Chintamani Chintadripettai
@hustlinhack The product name already implies clunky - "Microsoft" Planner
Malone Hedges
@hustlinhack made by Microsoft! I think these tools are meant to appeal to people who aren't comfortable going outside of their known tech brands.
Andrew Gale
@hustlinhack I think it looks way cleaner and more useful than Trello!
Kyle McDonald
@andrewgale have to use office 365 to use it though. No thanks.
Parth Trivedi
@hustlinhack speaking of clunky, Ninjality could use a better font for the front cover.
David Anderson
does it have a mobile app for my Zune
Niv Dror
Asana and Trello must have millions of users, but if Microsoft approaches the implementations correctly they could pretty quickly surpass that.
Niv Dror
@v3ss0n businesses are used to paying Microsoft lots of money
Phyo Arkar Lwin
@nivo0o0 but i still think they should make it free if they want to compete trello. and may be installable version of enterprise.
Aashish Patil
@v3ss0n @nivo0o0 If its bundled as part of O365, it will be as good as free because businesses already pay for O365. It increases the value prop for O365 package.
Phyo Arkar Lwin
@aashishpatil @nivo0o0 I c with all those O365 account hacks , leaks , and exploits , they still pay for it.

@v3ss0n @aashishpatil @nivo0o0 When has Office 365 ever been hacked?
Dean Brady
I've been playing with it for a week. I'm a heavy ASANA user, but we've started to use O365 at work and if this integrates well, it could be useful. So far, I'm not super impressed. Limited features and the connection to OneDrive, OneNote etc is clunky. Like many MS things, it seems like groups up in Redmond don't talk to each other to create a seamless user experience. I'll keep poking at it..
m.herszak
@deanbrady "I'm not super impressed".. I figured as much. All I saw was a bunch of user experience improvement without real improvements adding value to a planner.
Jason Sooter
I received an ugly popup survey immediately on the landing page. That is so Microsoft... https://www.evernote.com/l/ACGTY...
Jeremy Gollehon
@jasonsooter That's so... almost every single website I visit these days. :-)
Jason Sooter
@gollyjer fair enough. Ha Ha ;-) I went to the trello.com site to confirm. No popup that looks like it was designed on a Windows XP machine.

Here's the video overview:

Doesn't seem to have anything that Asana/Trello doesn't have. Anyone tried this out yet?
Joshua Brueckner
The moment the video said "Office 365", I exited. Good luck competing with Basecamp, Trello and Asana.
Chris Sel
@jabrueckner If they execute well, it will not be that difficult. Microsoft have more O365 users than Basecamp, Trello and Asana combined.

Tested planner. Quite horrible compare to trello. - No Markdown Support - Cannot copy cards ?? - Can't move Cards across board , REALLY?? - Editing cards is clunky - Bloats that nobody gonna use..
Daylen Sawchuk
@v3ss0n You can move cards between boards. Feedback can be shared on UserVoice (https://planner.uservoice.com/fo...)
Dean Brady
@v3ss0n Markdown support is an issue. Not sure why they skipped that. Cards can be moved as @Daylen mentioned. I didn't find editing the cards all that clunky although they should allow you to expand the card when creating it to get the full UI. "IF" they can make sure the connection with OneNote, Delve, OneDrive is seamless, then this could grow into something decent. I've been using ASANA since it launched and it was a little light in the features then. Hard to compare products that have been on the market for a while with something right out of the garage. Time will tell.
Jeremy Gollehon
Clearly something Microsoft needed in their Office suite which is trying to maintain it's powerhouse status. The ability to drill down and view board-by-column, board-by-person, tasks-by-person really quickly makes this useful. Excited to try it out.
Dan Moore
This is obviously not the MS market. So much hate here without trying the product. For those that have tried it: is this a clone or are they innovating yet? With MS' recent acquisitions, it seems like they have the potential to release some really cool stuff to bring Enterprise up to date with the modern individual tools. While I left Enterprise World, I wish them the best of luck with their adoption rates and actual usage rates.
Mario Uher
With one click you can fire Bonnie!
Jordi Romero
They should have bought Trello instead of cloning it.
Jordi Romero
@davidcreates maybe, but MS could have let Trello stay freemium and get an awesome product (similar to what they did with Wunderlist etc)
Mat Silva
Does this get bundled in Office 365?
Dean Brady
@matsilva It doesn't show up in the grid menu in my O365 and I think it requires an enterprise O365 license.
macbikegeek
@matsilva @nivo0o0 For organizations committed to Office 365, assuming they integrate it properly (Planner Tasks -> individuals' Outlook Tasks, e.g.) along with the OneDrive/O365 document sharing shown, it will be quite powerful. And I say that loving Trello but living in an Office 365 world at work.
Daylen Sawchuk
@deanbrady @matsilva It is only for business subscriptions, not home users. It will take a few weeks to roll out.
Tori Bunte
I get the MSFT & O365 hate, but some people are restricted by corporate governance policies and are not allowed to use Trello and Asana (tiny violin). I still need a project mgmt tool, or a Trello-like desktop app in my workflow so if this is all ya girl gets, she will take it.
Ben Waardenburg
I can see the appeal, but there are so many of these. Just another drop in the bucket.
Jus
Looks like a typical microsoft stab at trying to create something that exists already but make it better only to fail massively. Looks like a clunky UX nightmare. Sorry MS but it is.
Kaushal Vyas
This is a great move. Given that Microsoft owns other tools that a lot of saas users use - MS suite - having something like this that sits right at the centre of it, makes sense to me.
Shao
It's interesting the team from MSFT is still not here yet. Interesting design though. Definitely has its potential.
Phyo Arkar Lwin
No markdown support. I can't believe ...
